Rectal glands and tergal glands as sources of volatile pheromones in cucumber fruit fly, Zeugodacus Cucumis.

Male tephritid fruit flies typically emit pheromones from rectal glands to attract mates. Consistent with this, virgin females of the cucumber fruit fly, Zeugodacus cucumis (French), were found to be attracted to volatiles emitted by crushed male rectal glands in Y-tube olfactometer bioassays. Electrophysiological studies identified several male rectal gland compounds that triggered responses in female antennae.

Lung cancer risk and its potential association with PM in Bagmati province, Nepal-A spatiotemporal study from 2012 to 2021.

Background: Despite examining the role of an association between particulate matter and lung cancer in low-income countries, studies on the association between long-term exposure to particulate matter and lung cancer risk are still contradictory. This study investigates the spatiotemporal distribution patterns of lung cancer incidence and potential association with particulate matter (PM) in Bagmati province, Nepal.

Methods: We performed a spatiotemporal study to analyze the LC - PM association, using LC and annual mean PM concentration data from 2012 to 2021.

Evaluating feedback frequency preference and its relation to task performance.

Many researchers have evaluated how characteristics of feedback may influence trainee performance, but relatively little attention has been allocated to directly assessing trainee preference for feedback characteristics and its relation to performance. Thus, the primary purpose of this study was to use a within-subject experimental design to directly assess trainee preference for the frequency of feedback and its relation to task performance. A secondary objective was to evaluate how trainee preferences varied across specific task components based on component complexity.

Characterization of LiF TLD-100 in carbon ion beams for remote audits.

Background: A passive dosimeter framework for the measurement of dose in carbon ion beams has yet to be characterized or implemented for regular use.

Purpose: This work determined the dose calculation correction factors for absorbed dose in thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) in a therapeutic carbon ion beam. TLD could be a useful tool for remote audits, particularly in the context of clinical trials as new protocols are developed for carbon ion radiotherapy.

Draft annotated genome of the entomopathogenic fungus isolated from species.

The entomopathogenic fungus infects diverse insect host species. We present an annotated draft genome of (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation [CSIRO] strain M-1000) isolated from a species individual, thereby contributing to future research of as a potential biological control agent.
