Introduction: The process of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) breeding has affected negatively the fruit organoleptic properties and this is evident when comparing modern cultivars with heirloom varieties. Flavor of tomato fruit is determined by a complex combination of volatile and nonvolatile metabolites that is not yet understood.
Objectives: The aim of this work was to provide an alternative approach to exploring the relationship between tomato odour/taste and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Background And Objectives: Amputation is the conventional treatment for malignant subungual tumors (MSUTs), namely, subungual squamous cell carcinoma (SUSCC) and subungual melanoma (SUM). Functional surgery consisting of wide local excision (WLE) of the nail unit can preserve function without modifying prognosis in such cases. We present a series of MSUTs treated with WLE of the nail unit, describe the technique, and review its indications.

New optimized experimental data on α-terpineol production by the biotransformation of R-(+)-limonene and (-)-β-pinene using newly isolated microorganisms are reported in this work. Conversion of about 1,700 mg/L was achieved when R-(+)-limonene was used as substrate and the newly isolated strain 05.
