Objectives: We examined the association between travellers' characteristics, compliance with pre-travel recommendations and health problems.
Methods: Volunteer travellers were enrolled and data collected using a questionnaire between 30-60 days after returning home. We analyzed the associations through bivariate and multivariate models.
A global and local discussion on Public Health relevance is taking place, including the future role and organization of its services. Noteworthy becomes the role played by Public Health Specialists. This work presents the results of a workshop, carried out following the Guilbert methodology, whose aim was to define Public Health Doctors functions and their related activities.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the relationships between urinary iodine concentration (UIC) and the intake of milk and other foods, in a group of school children of the Veneto region, in North East Italy. A questionnaire, concerning the daily intake of milk, yoghurt, cheese and other animal foodstuffs, was distributed to 233 schoolchildren aged between 11 and 15 yr. The use of iodized salt was also investigated.
