Effect of different periodontal ligament simulating materials on the incidence of dentinal cracks during root canal preparation.

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the incidence of dentinal cracks during root canal preparation with different periodontal ligament simulating materials in vitro. Seventy freshly extracted human mandibular first premolars were selected and divided into 7 groups in terms of simulating material: group 1: polyether impression material; group 2: polyvinyl acetate adhesive; group 3: polyvinyl siloxane impression material; group 4: cyanoacrylate adhesive; group 5: epoxy resin adhesive; group 6: positive control, without any periodontal ligament simulation; and group 7: negative control, where neither a periodontal ligament simulating material was used nor canal preparation was carried out. Root canal preparation was carried out in all the groups followed by sectioning of roots at 3 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm.

Management of a permanent maxillary first molar with unusual crown and root anatomy: a case report.

The aim of this article was to showcase the endodontic management of a maxillary first molar with an unusual crown and root anatomy. Clinical diagnosis of the roots and root canal configuration was confirmed by a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and the detection of the canals was made using a dental operating microscope. CBCT images revealed the presence of 5 roots with Vertucci type I canal configuration in all, except, in the middle root which had 2 canals with type IV configuration.

Recent vs Conventional Methods of Caries Removal: A Comparative in vivo Study in Pediatric Patients.

Aims: To compare the three different methods of caries removal, conventional method using Airotor and chemomechanical method using Carisolv and Papacarie.

Settings And Design: The patients with multiple carious teeth were selected either in the deciduous dentition or mixed dentition. Ninety primary molars were selected from 30 children (10 males and 20 females) between the age group 6 and 9 years.

Accidental intrathecal administration of high dose diamorphine.

A case of accidental administration of high dose intrathecal diamorphine is reported in a patient who underwent total knee replacement. Initially a regional technique was planned for this patient, but due to inadvertent administration of three milligrams of diamorphine intrathecally, it was decided to convert the patient to have a general anaesthetic. Postoperatively, she was monitored in high dependency unit for 48 hours.
