Critical single-particle fluctuations associated with particle displacements are inherent to simple glass-forming liquids in the limit of large dimensions and leave a pseudocritical trace across all finite dimensions. This characteristic could serve as a crucial test for distinguishing between theories of glass formation. We here examine these critical fluctuations, as captured by the well-established non-Gaussian parameter, within both mode-coupling theory (MCT) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) across dimensions for hard sphere fluids and for the minimally structured Mari-Kurchan model.

While it generally tends to level out gradients and inhomogeneities, diffusion has nonetheless been shown to promote pattern formation in certain classes of systems. Formation of stable structures often serves as a key factor in promoting the emergence and persistence of cooperative behavior in otherwise competitive environments, however, an in-depth analysis on the impact of diffusion on such systems is lacking.

This work first introduces a finite volume (FV) approach to develop numerical schemes to simulate the DL model in one, two and three dimensions then presents how variations over realistic ranges of the DL model parameters related to desorption, diffusion and leakage processes affect the alpha dose distribution and the position of the clinically significant alpha particle10Gy isodose. This work also presents the effects of three modeling approximations: two source geometry approximations (solid cylinder instead of hollow, pixelized cross section instead of circular), and one dosimetric approximation (single-source dose superposition instead of multiple-sources direct dose calculation).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis report describes the case of a frail 36-year-old patient who underwent an endovascular treatment of a right subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm (SAP) associated with an arteriovenous fistula secondary to a traumatic central venous catheter insertion. The deployment of a covered stent from the innominate to the right common carotid artery combined with coiling of the SAP and the internal mammary artery was performed. Two additional covered stents were deployed from the vertebral artery to the distal subclavian artery to preserve right upper extremity circulation.
