[Occupational exposure to wood dust and nasal sinus cancer].

Objectives: To determine the clinical, histological, epidemiological and occupational data related to exposure to wood dust in a series of 100 nasal sinus malignant tumors.

Material And Methods: We conducted a retrospective and descriptive study of cases diagnosed between 1st January 1981 and 31 December 2000, in the Auvergne region of France. Individual, medical, and occupational data were collected from a questionnaire completed by the patient (or the patient's family in case of death) and from the medical documents available.

Osteoarthritis of the thumb carpometacarpal joint in women and occupational risk factors: a case-control study.

Purpose: Among other etiologic factors involved in first carpometacarpal (CMC) osteoarthritis (OA), occupational factors have been postulated as influencing the occurrence of this condition. Very few epidemiologic studies, however, have evaluated this topic. Determining the occupational risk factors is important in proposing preventive measures at the workplace.

Glutathione S-transferase M1 and GST T1 genetic polymorphisms and Raynaud's phenomenon in French vinyl chloride monomer-exposed workers.

Occupational vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) exposure can induce Raynaud's phenomenon (RP). However, not all VCM workers developed RP, which suggests an underlying genetic susceptibility. Genetic polymorphisms of glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), involved in VCM metabolism, have been shown to influence certain VCM-related health effects.

[Efficacy of Spirolept vaccine against human leptospirosis as estimated by passive protection of laboratory rodents].

Objective: This study had for aim to assess the serological response induced by the Spirolept vaccine against human leptospirosis.

Method: A serological follow-up was made on 31 patients at a risk of occupational exposure. The antibody titers of vaccinated patients were assessed by MAT and ELISA.

[Occupational risk for blood exposure and staff behaviour: a cross-sectional study in 3 Moroccan healthcare centers].

Objective: As in other countries, Moroccan health-care workers are exposed to occupational blood exposure (OBE) hazards. The purpose of this study was to estimate the occupational safety and hygiene conditions determining the OBE risk for health-care workers. WORKERS AND METHODS: In March 2000, a multicentric study was carried out in Morocco on 420 health-care workers, with an anonymous questionnaire.
