Myoepithelioma is a rare neoplasm of the salivary glands, generally occurring in the parotid gland and less often in the minor accessory salivary gland of the oral cavity. The histological appearance includes solid, myxoid and reticular growth patterns. Vimentin and S-100 protein are very sensitive but non-specific immunohistochemical markers of neoplastic myoepithelium.

It is a good alternative for tonsillectomy because of its effective hemostasis and limited penetration depth of the coagulation beam. The aim of this prospective, randomized trial was to evaluate operative time, intraoperative bleeding, and postoperative morbidity of the "hot" APC tonsillectomy as with regard to with a traditional "cold" dissection tonsillectomy in adults.

It classically presents with involvement of the upper and lower respiratory tracts and renal system. Facial nerve palsy and otologic manifestations have been reported during the course of the disease but it is extremely rare as the presenting features.
