Prenatal care is of fundamental importance and must be carried out by a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including dental care, as several changes and complications affecting the oral cavity may occur during pregnancy. This was a cross-sectional study that aimed to analyze the hematological profile of pregnant women with and without periodontal disease (PD). Data were obtained by consulting medical and dental records, which were stratified into two subgroups: pregnant women with PD (n=107) and pregnant women without PD (n=42).

The dataset included measurements on 449,966 ejaculates evaluated using a Computer-Assisted Sperm Analysis (CASA) system from 5692 artificial insemination (AI) boars. In total, we considered 16 semen traits measured on fresh semen and 6 sperm motility traits measured on semen after storage.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed the medical charts of patients seen at the Vida Centro de Fertilidade, a private fertility clinic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from January 2018 to June 2023. It included poor responders described based on the Bologna criteria who were first prescribed conventional treatment with an antagonist protocol, without success, and then the long agonist protocol.
The importance of boar reproductive traits, including semen quality, in the sustainability of pig production system is increasingly being acknowledged by academic and industrial sectors. Research is needed to understand the biology and genetic components underlying these traits so that they can be incorporated into selection schemes and managerial decisions. This article reviews our current understanding of genome biology and technologies for genome, transcriptome and epigenome analysis which now facilitate the identification of causal variants affecting phenotypes more than ever before.
