Article Synopsis
  • Mesenchymal stem cell therapy shows promise for treating perianal Crohn's fistulas that do not respond to conventional treatments, which are challenging and debilitating.
  • A documented case involved a patient who received autologous adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (ADSVF) and microfat injections, leading to remarkable healing of the fistulas within 12 weeks and sustained improvement at 48 weeks.
  • The successful outcome suggests that combining ADSVF and microfat may provide a new effective treatment approach for patients suffering from these complex fistulas associated with Crohn's disease.
