Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the mechanical and physical properties of 21 different dental dam sheets used for isolation, measuring parameters like thickness, rupture force, elongation, and ultimate tensile strength, alongside their costs.
  • Testing involved cutting samples and using a universal testing machine to assess properties while also examining the sheets' structure and composition through various methods including scanning electron microscopy.
  • Results showed variations in thickness and mechanical performance, with Flexidam being the thickest and the non-latex Sanctuary dam exhibiting the highest elongation, while the Bassi dental dam had the best ultimate tensile strength.

Transgender women (TGW) have limited access to affordable viral hepatitis testing, hepatitis B vaccination, and treatment. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of viral hepatitis A, B, and C, as well as to compare the adherence and immunogenicity of two hepatitis B vaccine schedules among TGW in Central Brazil. A total of 440 TGW were interviewed and tested for hepatitis A, B, and C serological markers from 2017 to 2018.

A main challenge in the clinical management of prostate cancer is to identify which tumor is aggressive and needs invasive treatment. Thus, being able to predict which cancer will progress to biochemical recurrence is a great strategy to stratify prostate cancer patients. With that in mind, we created a mathematical formula that takes into account the patients clinical and pathological data resulting in a quantitative variable, called PSA density of the lesion, which has the potential to predict biochemical recurrence.

In this study, we aimed to relate anthropometric parameters and sensory processing in typically developing Brazilian children diagnosed with a pediatric feeding disorder (PFD). This was a retrospective study of typically developing children with a PFD. Anthropometric data were collected and indices of weight-for-age, length/height-for-age, and body mass index-for-age (BMI-for-age) were analyzed as z-scores.

Objective:  To identify current strategies and recommendations for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis associated with the pregnancy-puerperal cycle, a condition of high morbidity and mortality among women.

Methods:  The literature search was performed between May and October 2019, using the PubMed database, including papers published in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The terms (Mesh) AND (Mesh) OR (Mesh) were used as descriptors, including randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, systematic reviews and guidelines published from 2009 to 2019, presenting strategies for prevention of thromboembolism during pregnancy and the postpartum.
