Background And Objectives: Cavernous sinus meningiomas (CSM) pose one of the most difficult to treat subgroup of skull base meningiomas. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of an interdisciplinary treatment approach for symptomatic CSM which incorporated conservative function preserving microsurgery and routine adjuvant fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT).
Methods: A homogenous group of patients with symptomatic primary CSM with extracavernous extension was treated between 2005 and 2012.
Objective: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt implantation has become standard treatment for cerebrospinal fluid diversion, besides endoscopic third ventriculostomy for certain indications. Postoperative X-ray radiography series of skull, chest and abdomen combined with cranial CT are obtained routinely in many institutions to document the shunt position and valve settings in adult patients. Measures to reduce postoperative radiation exposure are needed, however, there is only limited experience with such efforts.

Methods: In this study, 60 healthy participants with evenly distributed ages (between 21 and 69 years) and sex underwent MRI examinations at 3T including whole-brain H‑MRSI. The concentrations of the metabolites N‑acetylaspartate (NAA), choline-containing compounds (Cho), total creatine and phosphocreatine (tCr), glutamine and glutamate (Glx), and myo-inositol (mI), as well as the brain relaxation times T2, T2' and T1 were measured in 12 regions of interest (ROI) in each hemisphere.
