A cross-sectional study of the experiences of distressed callers when accessing financial assistance from a telephone-based cancer information and support service.

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the experiences of distressed people calling helplines regarding offer and uptake of financial services after cancer diagnosis.

Methods: Cancer patients and caregivers reported whether they had discussed then used financial services and perceptions surrounding service uptake. Associations between being offered services and demographic, clinical and financial characteristics were explored.

A virtual reality environment for supporting mental wellbeing of students on remote clinical placement: A multi-methods evaluation.

Background: Nursing and Allied Health Profession (NAHP) students undertake clinical placements as part of their pre-registration training. The remote nature of some placement sites, shiftwork and the emotionally challenging nature of the workload has led to mental wellbeing issues in many students.

Introduction: Neutropenic sepsis is a life-threatening combination of neutropenia and infection. Patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy are at a high risk of neutropenic sepsis and thus are likely to present in a clinical setting. This study aimed to evaluate levels of Therapeutic Radiographers' understanding of sepsis signs and response pathways along with the impact of a training session on this.

Clinical indications for carbon-ion radiotherapy in the UK: A critical review.

Introduction: Carbon-ion radiotherapy (CIRT) has unique radiobiological properties that cause increased radiobiological effect and tumour control, especially with hypoxic tissues. This critical review aimed to evaluate clinical response to CIRT across all published tumour sites to establish if there is a clinical need for a CIRT centre in the UK.

Methods: A critical review was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Purpose: Simulation is used within medical radiation science training. Recent global events and simulation resource uptake has led to significant changes. The aim of this study was to capture post COVID-19 trends and activity of simulation-based education (SBE) in diagnostic radiography and radiation therapy.
