The study objective was to assess acceptability, feasibility, likeability, and applicability of interactive virtual reality with feedback loops (VR) to teach and assess veterinary anesthesia machine operation. Data from 60 students were analyzed. Students learned and trained how to use the anesthesia machine components and connections and performed safety checks (such as the pressure check) using real and VR machines.

The use of proper sedative and regional anesthetic protocols is essential when performing equine dental surgical procedures under standing sedation. The efficacy of the rostral inferior alveolar nerve block via the mental foramen has not been previously studied. Aims of this study included determining the efficacy of the block, investigating whether any region (labial mucosa, alveolar mucosa, or teeth) was more reliably anesthetized, and if differences in efficacy existed between bilateral and unilateral blocks.

Objective: To describe the effect of two doses of maropitant on pain scores, food intake, and fecal output in domestic rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) undergoing elective ovariohysterectomy or orchiectomy.

Animals: 26 (11 female, 15 male) rabbits from three institutions.

Procedures: Rabbits were randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups: low-dose maropitant (LDM; 2 mg/kg SC once; n=8), moderate-dose maropitant (MDM; 4 mg/kg SC once; n=10), and control (saline equivalent to 4 mg/kg maropitant SC once; n=8), administered prior to surgery.
