[The Stein-Leventhal syndrome with obesity].

The authors carried out studies on 28 women with the syndrome of Stein-Leventhal with obesity. It was established that patients with hypothalamic genuine obesity of III degree predominated. The number of patients with liver steatosis was the largest among accompanying metabolic disturbances, followed by those with arterial hypertension and asymptomatic hyperuricemia.

[Study of anorexia nervosa].

18 women suffering from nervous anorexia were studied. The onset of the disease was before the age of 25 years in all patients. The loss of body mass was between 25% and 40%, mean 32%.

[Changes in organ-specific enzymes under the influence of an enriched food ration in experimental cadmium poisoning].

During a 3-month experiment is studied the effect of enriched with iron, calcium, phosphorous and vitamin D2 food ration on the changes in the organospecific enzymes in everyday introduction in the organism of experimental animals of cadmium sulfate in dose 1/40 LD50 (7 mg/kg-1). The serum activity of GOT and GPT is traced in dynamics at the end of the first, second and third month, as well as the activity of gamma-GT, LAP and APh in homogenates of liver and kidneys. The changes established in most of the experimental groups and the dates of observation show an increase in the serum and tissue activity of the examined enzymes (GOT, GPT, LAP).

[Autonomic disorders and thermography using liquid crystals in obesity].

A case of a woman who complained of dryness of the mouth, eyes and lack of tears is presented. For the diagnosis traditional tests were used--Schirmer's test, gastric intubation, as well as modern immunologic methods--immunoglobulins of single-chain and natural anti-DNA antibodies, radioscintigraphy of the salivary glands. The positive Schirmer's test, the slow gastric secretion with normal secretion at the lower normal range, the positive natural and anti DNA antibodies with increased IgA, IgG, IgM, and the data of the radioscintigraphy of the salivary glands make an early diagnosis possible and facilitate a timely modern treatment.
