Background: The aim of this prospective multicenter study was to evaluate clinical and radiologic results of a new metaphyseal anchored system. This system features a different anchor geometry that potentially leads to better bony integration and less loosening.

Methods: From November 2012 until December 2015, 148 patients (151 shoulders) were treated with the Sidus Stem-Free Shoulder System at 9 centers in Europe.

Since 1984, the authors have performed ligamentoplasties of the metacarpophalangeal (MP) joint of the thumb with Dacron mesh. A series of 21 cases is reviewed and tested clinically with a mean follow-up of 34 months. The MP joint remained stable.

Perforating ulcers of the foot in diabetics constitute a difficult therapeutic problem. In a series of 17 cases, the authors stress the value of tibial nerve neurolysis associated with periarterial sympathectomy which results in cure of the 15 patients treated within 30 days. Although no electromyographic improvement was observed, perfusion studies and oxymetry demonstrated an improved local vascular situation which promoted healing.

The Authors report the results of 120 hallux valgus operated on 76 patients from January 1983 to June 1988. The operative procedure associated bunionectomy, tenotomy of the abductor hallucis which was resected from the base of the first phalanx and from the lateral sesamoid, shortening osteotomy of the proximal phalanx and finally adjustment of the sesamoids under the head of the first metatarsal. When there was an important metatarsus varus, a basilar osteotomy of the first metatarsal was associated (10 cases about 120).
