[Nonimmune hydrops fetalis associated with congenital small bowel atresia--a case study].

Nonimmune hydrops fetalis is observed with the frequency of 1:3000 cases diagnosed pre- and postnatally. In the following paper the authors analyzed the course of pregnancy complicated by fetal ascites and polyhydramnios with the appearance of colonic ileus and they presented the postnatal condition of the baby The preliminary diagnosis was confirmed after birth and the newborn was operated in the second day of his life. The congenital small bowel atresia was qualified as a III B type (Grossfeld qualification), which is called the "pagoda" syndrome [3].

[Analysis of results after primary heminephrectomy in surgical treatment of duplicated pyelo-caliceal system].

Aim: Determination of the effective diagnostics and therapeutic procedures in duplicated pyelo-calyceal system with upper pole dysfunction.

Method: Retrospective review of operative procedures and follow-up.

Material: In Department of Pediatric Surgery University of Medical Sciences in Poznań (Poland), 383 children with duplicated pyelo-calyceal system were treated between 1976 and 1997.

[Small intestine transplantation in the human--clinical studies].

Three stages in development of small bowel transplantation (SBT) in a human are discussed. Indications to SBT in adults and children are mentioned. Clinical experiences in SBT in humans with particular presentation of actual problems, difficulties and future of SBT are discussed.

[Polyp of the pyeloureteral junction as the cause of transient obstruction of urine outflow from the kidney].

A 12-year-old boy is presented with a polyp of the pyeloureteral junction causing transient obstruction in the upper urinary tract. The aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of this rare benign neoplasm are discussed.
