Resonant third-harmonic generation driven by out-of-equilibrium electron dynamics in sodium-based near-zero index thin films.

We investigate resonant third-harmonic generation in near-zero index thin films driven out-of-equilibrium by intense optical excitation. Adopting the Landau weak coupling formalism to incorporate electron-electron and electron-phonon scattering processes, we derive a novel set of hydrodynamic equations accounting for collision-driven nonlinear dynamics in sodium. By perturbatively solving hydrodynamic equations, we model third-harmonic generation by a thin sodium film, finding that such a nonlinear process is resonant at the near-zero index resonance of the third-harmonic signal.

Harnessing collisional nonlinearity for enhanced harmonic generation by ultraviolet plasmonic nanoparticles.

We investigate the contribution of inelastic electron collisions to nonlinear (NL) dynamics in ultraviolet plasmonic nanoparticles, exploring their potential for harmonic generation. Employing the Landau weak coupling formalism to model radiation-driven electron dynamics in sodium and aluminum, we account for both electron-electron and electron-phonon scattering processes by a set of hydrodynamic equations, which we solve perturbatively to obtain third-order NL susceptibilities. Furthermore, we model high harmonic generation enhanced by localized surface plasmons in nanospheres composed of such poor metals, demonstrating their efficient operation for extreme ultraviolet generation.

Educational Approaches Using Simulation for Psychiatric Risk Assessment: a Scoping Review.

Objective: The ability to assess a patient's risk of harm to self or others is a core competency for mental health clinicians which can have significant patient outcomes. With the growth of simulation in medical education, there is an opportunity to enhance education outcomes for psychiatric risk assessment. The purpose of this study was to determine how simulation is used to build competency in risk assessment and map its educational outcomes.

Community-Based Mental Health and Substance Use Services for People Leaving Prison: Equity and Inclusion Strengths and Limitations in Specialized Service Inventory Development.

Community reentry from prison is a challenging process, especially for persons with lived and living experience of mental health concerns. Access to appropriate community-based care for those leaving prison is a key part of improving health equity for this population. Our work to develop a cross-Canada inventory of active community mental health and substance use services for criminal justice-involved persons represents a valuable example for others hoping to conduct projects that are similar in nature and scope.

Sexual Sadism Disorder and Coercive Paraphilic Disorder: A Scoping Review.

Background: Valid and reliable diagnostic criteria are essential in forensic psychiatry and sexual medicine due to the severe implications of potential misdiagnoses. One challenge in this field is the poor operationalization of sexual sadism disorder (SSD) and coercive paraphilic disorder (CP+) definitions.

Aim: The aim of this scoping literature review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the key conceptual differences between SSD and CP+, as well as consider pragmatic and clinically useful approaches to their diagnostic formulation.
