Article Synopsis
  • Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an autoimmune disorder causing progressive nerve damage, leading to motor and sensory issues, with growing research on its effects on the visual system through visual evoked potentials (VEPs).
  • The review analyzes studies over two decades, confirming that CIDP patients show prolonged VEP latencies and reduced amplitudes compared to healthy individuals, indicating central nervous system involvement, especially in the optic nerve.
  • VEP assessment is becoming an important diagnostic and monitoring tool for CIDP, potentially serving as a biomarker for disease activity, though challenges in standardization and recording techniques remain.

The aim of this study was primarily to evaluate the levels of progesterone, oestradiol and relaxin during different delivery modes and secondarily to assess specific traits and changes in maternal pelvic dimensions during pregnancy and childbirth, in correlation with foetal size and maternal hormonal profile. Nulliparous women ( = 448) were evaluated at three different stages, during first trimester, at the time of admission for childbirth and finally just before childbirth. Each examination included clinical internal pelvimetry, blood sample collection for defining the hormones levels in peripheral maternal circulation and ultrasonographic measurements of specific variables of the pubic symphysis and the foetus.

Article Synopsis
  • - Adamantinoma is a rare biphasic tumor with low malignancy, featuring epithelial cell clusters surrounded by a spindle-cell osteofibrous component, often presenting as a 'soap-bubble' on X-rays due to its unique lobular, lytic structure.
  • - The study reviews the latest information on adamantinoma's epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, imaging techniques, and treatment options, highlighting the effectiveness of MRI for distinguishing it from other skeletal tumors.
  • - Histologically, adamantinoma can be classified into classic or osteofibrous-like types with four growth patterns, and the recommended treatment is surgical en bloc resection, which may involve removing surrounding tissues and lymph nodes to ensure complete removal.
