(Nematoda: Ascaridida) is a common parasite of cattle and buffaloes in tropical and subtropical regions and the causative agent of toxocarosis in calves. In Europe, sporadic infections have been reported in cattle, but also in bovines held at zoological gardens. Here, we report infections in a herd of American bison () kept at the Vienna Zoo, Austria, which occurred in 2023 and 2024.

With limited cell numbers and broad kidney distribution, isolation of podocyte mitochondria typically requires first isolating podocytes themselves. Disassociation of podocytes from their basement membrane, however, recapitulates an injured state that may stress mitochondria.

We conducted a randomized Phase 1 clinical trial of individual HTNV and PUUV DNA vaccines targeting the envelope glycoproteins (GnGc), as well as a combined HTNV/PUUV DNA vaccine delivered at varying doses using the PharmaJet Stratis® needle-free injection system (NCT02776761). Cohort 1 and 2 vaccines consisted of 2 mg/vaccination of HTNV or PUUV plasmid, respectively.

The recent outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has underscored the need for new antivirals with broad-acting mechanisms to combat increasing emergence of new variants. Currently, there are only a few antivirals approved for treatment of SARS-CoV-2.

This definition encompasses three key components: healthcare delivery that is organized around patients' medical conditions, costs and outcomes that are actively and consistently measured, and information technology that enables the other two components. Our objective in this project was to implement and measure a systemwide high-value, evidence-based care initiative with five pillars of high-value practices.
