Article Synopsis
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is linked to high blood sugar due to reduced insulin activity, and a study from South India explored genetic factors, particularly the LEPR gene polymorphism rs1137101, in its development.* -
  • Researchers analyzed data from 311 participants and conducted a meta-analysis involving 254 previous studies, assessing the quality of these studies and finding a significant association between the rs1137101 polymorphism and increased T2DM risk.* -
  • The study employed various genetic models, indicating that specific genetic variations play a crucial role in the likelihood of developing T2DM, with findings supporting existing research in diverse populations.*

An analysis of host plant leaf age preferences and phenology studies led to the predictions that tender rubber plant leaves are essential for the completion of the life cycle of the Mupli beetle, Luprops tristis Fabricius (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) and that low tender leaf availability during the post-dormancy stage will limit the beetle population. Analyses of the effects of feeding the beetles leaves of various ages, nitrogen (N) content, and moisture content on fecundity and the duration of post-dormancy survival were carried out. The results showed that tender leaf availability during the post-dormancy phase of L.
