Comparison between Duke, ESC-2015, ISCVID-2023 and ESC-2023 criteria for the diagnosis of TAVR-related infective endocarditis.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement-related infective endocarditis (TAVR-IE) is associated with a poor prognosis. TAVR-IE diagnosis is challenging, and benefits of the most recent classifications (ESC-2015, ISCVID-2023 and ESC-2023) have not been compared with the conventional Duke criteria on this population.

Objectives: The primary objective was to compare the diagnostic value of the Duke, ESC-2015, ISCVID-2023, and ESC-2023 criteria for the diagnosis of TAVR-IE.

Investigating cross-orientation inhibition with continuous tracking.

We investigated cross-orientation inhibition with the recently developed continuous tracking technique. We designed an experiment where participants tracked the horizontal motion of a narrow vertical grating. The target was superimposed on one of three different backgrounds, in separate sessions: a uniform gray background or a sinusoidal grating oriented either parallel or orthogonal to the target.

Association of Plasma Creatinine Phosphokinase Elevation and a History of Idiopathic Cardiomyopathy in Recipients of Heart Transplant.

Plasma creatinine phosphokinase (CPK) elevation is frequent after heart transplantation. In the present study, we tested the hypothesis that this CPK elevation is related to idiopathic cardiomyopathy as primary cardiac disease. We included 203 patients who survived >1 year after heart transplantation.
