FlexMetric bone marrow aspirator yields laboratory and clinically improved results from mesenchymal stem and progenitor cells without centrifugation.

Several devices used to harvest stem/progenitor cells from bone marrow are available to clinicians. This study compared three devices measuring stem cell yields and correlating those yields to bone regeneration. A flexible forward aspirating system Marrow Marxman (MM), a straight needle aspirating on withdrawal system Marrow Cellutions (MC), and a straight needle aspirating on withdrawal and centrifuging the aspirate (BMAC) were compared in a side-to-side patient comparison, as well as tissue engineered bone grafts.

The Trigeminal Nerve Injury.

Trigeminal nerve branches are never far from the operating field of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Increasingly the surgeon is required to provide accurate diagnosis and grading of trigeminal nerve injury, and surgical management by oral and maxillofacial surgeons will become common. Although trauma and ablative procedures for head and neck pathology can cause injuries, dentoalveolar surgical procedures remain an important cause of injury to the fifth cranial nerve, with the third division being the main branch affected.

Unexpected temporary mental nerve deficit after extraction of mandibular first molar: case report.

Unlabelled: Temporary neurologic deficit affecting the distribution of the left mental nerve was reported in a warfarinized, diabetic patient who had a history of previous CVA with right-sided body weakness. The neurologic deficit was reported following routine extraction of a left mandibular first molar. Recovery of sensation began six weeks after the procedure.

Erupted compound odontoma: case report of a 15-year-old Sudanese boy with a history of traditional dental mutilation.

A rare case of an erupted compound odontoma associated with a malformed and dilacerated maxillary left lateral incisor is reported. The patient, a 15-year-old immigrant Sudanese boy, had a malformed right lateral maxillary incisor and missing centrals. His guardian reported he had undergone traditional extraction of his primary teeth as a child whilst in Africa.
