Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly taking on a greater role in healthcare. However, hype and negative news reports about AI abound. Integrating patient and public involvement (PPI) in healthcare AI projects may help in adoption and acceptance of these technologies.

Public opinion on sharing data from health services for clinical and research purposes without explicit consent: an anonymous online survey in the UK.

Objectives: UK National Health Service/Health and Social Care (NHS/HSC) data are variably shared between healthcare organisations for direct care, and increasingly de-identified for research. Few large-scale studies have examined public opinion on sharing, including of mental health (MH) versus physical health (PH) data. We measured data sharing preferences.

Oral nitrate and citrulline decrease blood pressure and increase vascular conductance in young adults: a potential therapy for heart failure.

Purpose: Both inorganic nitrate and citrulline are known to alter the arginine-nitric oxide-nitrate system to increase the bioavailability of nitric oxide with potential benefits in the treatment of heart failure. However, their effects on cardiac electrical activity, vascular compliance and peripheral conductance are less well understood. This study examined the effect of nitrate and citrulline on cardiac electrical activity and blood flow.

Storage of pools of six and eight platelet concentrates.

Platelet concentrates (PCs) prepared from units of whole blood are routinely stored singly at 20 to 24 degrees C and pooled prior to transfusion. Studies have been conducted to evaluate the in vitro properties of pools of six (n = 19) and eight (n = 17) ABO-identical PCs after storage, with comparative studies involving single units (n = 33). The pools were prepared using the sterile connecting device.
