Advantage of bedside versus conventional operating room surgery in the management of term and preterm newborn infants: a single center retrospective observational study.

Purpose: To compare postoperative outcomes of bedside surgery (BS) with those of surgery performed in the operating room (ORS) in preterm and full-term neonates.

Methods: Data from neonates undergoing major surgical interventions were retrospectively evaluated. Primary outcome was the incidence of postoperative hypothermia.

: We report a case of brainstem anesthesia (BSA) and subsequent cardiac arrest following a routinary peribulbar block (PB) in a patient scheduled for cataract extraction and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, thus providing a reference for further analysis of this potentially catastrophic life-threatening complication and to evaluate the current knowledge in terms of incidence, physiopathology management, and treatment of the BSA following PB. : Three databases (PubMed, Embase, and Scopus) were checked to perform a systematic review of all available studies in the English Language following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to evaluate relevant studies that clearly described BSA following BSA. : Our literature search identified 15 cases.

Exploring the contribution of carotid artery disease to the onset of non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathies: A systematic review.

Purpose: The role of carotid artery disease (CAD) in the development of various types of ocular arterial occlusive disorders has often been reported. This systematic review aims to evaluate and review the current evidence regarding the role of CAD and the subsequent carotid artery hemodynamic alterations in the development of non-arteritic anterior (NA-AION) and posterior (NA-PION) ischemic optic neuropathy.
