Skeletal muscle tissue can regenerate after damage through the action of satellite cells, which proliferate as myoblasts when activated. Oxidative stress, marked by high rates of reactive oxygen species (e.g.

-produced blastocysts are exposed to different stimuli when compared with ones. This includes the culture of embryos in a sturdy petri-dish, while embryos develop in a soft and dynamic structure. Here we hypothesized that a softer environment could differently modulate the produced embryos To that aim, presumptive zygotes were produced by fertilization and divided into three groups: 1) Cultured in a regular Petri dish - Control (CON); 2) Cultured on top of an alginate hydrogel surface (TOP); 3) Encapsulated inside an alginate hydrogel sphere (ENC) and cultured.

Background: The Niemann Pick C1 (NPC1) protein is an intracellular cholesterol transporter located in the late endosome/lysosome (LE/Ly) that is involved in the mobilization of endocytosed cholesterol. Loss-of-function mutations in the NPC1 gene lead to the accumulation of cholesterol and sphingolipids in LE/Ly, resulting in severe fatal NPC1 disease. Cellular alterations associated with NPC1 inactivation affect both the integrity of lipid rafts and the endocytic pathway.

Parasites can impact tadpole survival in both lethal and sublethal ways. Sublethal effects include alterations in morphology and behavior, reduced competitive ability, and increased vulnerability to predation, while lethal effects result in direct mortality. These impacts can have significant consequences at both individual and population levels, especially given that amphibians host various parasites and pathogens, which may contribute to population declines.

Silicon particles of intermediate sizes (75-200 nm) scatter visible wavelengths, making them promising candidates for optical devices. The solution synthesis of silicon particles in this size range, however, has proved challenging for chemists over the past few decades. Here, a solution-phase synthesis provides a pathway toward reaching size tunability between 45 and 230 nm via changing the reactant ratio in the reaction between a silicon Zintl phase (NaSi) with an amidinate-stabilized Si(IV) coordination complex.
