Introduction: Nursing research is an integral part of nursing science and essential for evidence-based nursing practice. Research conducted by nursing scientists employed at university hospitals is shaped by the specific prevailing conditions. It is largely unclear to what extent these nursing scientists are engaged in research and which difficulties they have to face.

World delirium awareness and quality survey in 2023-a worldwide point prevalence study.

Background: Delirium, an acute brain dysfunction, is proposed to be highly prevalent in clinical care and shown to significantly increase the risk of mortality and dementia.

Objectives: To report on the global prevalence of clinically documented delirium and delirium-related clinical practices in wards caring for paediatric and adult patients in healthcare facilities.

Design: A prospective, cross-sectional, 39-question survey completed on World Delirium Awareness Day, 15 March 2023.

Creating a Culture of an Awake and Walking Intensive Care Unit: In-Hospital Strategies to Mitigate Post-Intensive Care Syndrome.

The ABCDEF bundle and Awake and Walking intensive care unit (ICU) approach aim to prevent the long-term consequences of critical illness (ie, post-intensive care syndrome) by promoting patient wakefulness, cognition, and mobility. Humanizing the ICU experience is the key, preserving patients' function and autonomy. Successful implementation requires cultivating an ICU culture focused on avoiding sedatives and initiating prompt mobilization, addressing organizational barriers through tailored strategies.

Electroencephalography based delirium screening in acute supratentorial stroke.

Background: Up to 25% of patients suffering from an acute stroke are diagnosed with delirium during the hospital stay, with older age increasing the risk. Generalized slowing in the electroencephalogram (EEG) supports the diagnosis of delirium. We examined the potential of single-channel EEG (DeltaScan) as an easy-to-use device on intensive care units for detecting delirium.
