Palliative Care Needs in Adult Patients with Acute Leukemia: A Prospective Observational Study.

Acute leukemia (AL) affects patients' well-being and inflicts substantial symptom burden. We evaluated palliative care needs and symptom burden in adult patients with AL from diagnosis through fourth week of induction chemotherapy. Newly diagnosed adult patients with AL scheduled for curative-intent treatments, prospectively completed Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Leukemia questionnaire at diagnosis and postinduction therapy.

Probing the Self-Aggregation of l-Tryptophan into Spherical Microstructures and Their Selective Interactions with Bilirubin.

The aggregation of proteins, peptides and amino acids has been a keen subject of interest owing to their implications in metabolic disorders. In this work, we investigated the self-aggregation of the unmodified aromatic amino acid l-tryptophan (Trp) into unusual spherical microstructures. Using fluorescence spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), we detail the time-dependent transformation of monomeric tryptophan into spherical aggregates with distinct fluorescence characteristics (λ = 345 nm, λ = 430 nm) compared to the monomer.

Night Eating Syndrome and Its Association With Depression Among College Students: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Introduction Night eating syndrome (NES) is categorized as an eating disorder characterized by a delayed circadian rhythm of food intake and involves evening hyperphagia and/or nighttime awakening and food consumption two or more times per week. Young adults showed a higher prevalence of night eating, and students who reported high stress, irregular sleep patterns, and disordered eating may be more likely to develop NES symptoms. Objective This study aimed to assess the prevalence of Night Eating Syndrome among college students in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu (India) and to find out the association between NES and socio-demographic variables and depression among the students.

Performance analysis of image retrieval system using deep learning techniques.

The image retrieval is the process of retrieving the relevant images to the query image with minimal searching time in internet. The problem of the conventional Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system is that they produce retrieval results for either colour images or grey scale images alone. Moreover, the CBIR system is more complex which consumes more time period for producing the significant retrieval results.

Bile Acid Diarrhea (BAD) is a common cause of chronic diarrhea, often accompanied by urgency, occasional fecal incontinence, abdominal pain, and fatigue. A nationwide survey has shown limited awareness of BAD within the Italian medical community, prompting a panel of experts to develop a Position Paper that outlines the most practical and cost-saving diagnostic investigations and treatments for this frequently overlooked condition.
