The influence of functional components of natural scenes on episodic memory.

Prior expectation for the structure of natural scenes is perhaps the most influential contributor to episodic memory for objects in scenes. While the influence of functional components of natural scenes on scene perception and visual search has been well studied, far less is known about the independent contributions of these components to episodic memory. In this investigation, we systematically removed three functional components of natural scenes: global-background, local spatial, and local associative information, to evaluate their impact on episodic memory.

Socioecological drivers of burnout - a mixed methods study of military health providers.

Introduction: Health provider burnout is highly prevalent (28-51%) in the US and may contribute to a projected national health provider shortage by 2030. The Socioecological Model (SEM) is a proven conceptual framework used to identify influencing factors and design relevant solutions to improve health outcomes across multiple ecological levels. This study applied the SEM to identify modifiable drivers and solutions of burnout across multiple levels among US Military health providers.

Introduction: Screening for colorectal cancer has been implemented to improve cancer-specific survival. This study aims to compare patient- and tumor characteristics, treatment, and survival between patients with screen-detected and clinically detected synchronous colorectal peritoneal metastases (CPM) in a Dutch population-based cohort.

Methods: Data from the Netherlands Cancer Registry (NCR) were used.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted global economies and healthcare systems, revealing critical vulnerabilities in both. In response, our study introduces a groundbreaking method for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 cDNA, leveraging Luminescence resonance energy transfer (LRET) between upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to achieve an unprecedented detection limit of 242 femtomolar (fM). This innovative sensing platform utilizes UCNPs conjugated with one primer and AuNPs with another, targeting the 5' and 3' ends of the SARS-CoV-2 cDNA, respectively, enabling precise differentiation of mismatched DNA sequences and significantly enhancing detection specificity.

An observational cohort of patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases or pseudomyxoma peritonei treated with CRS-HIPEC: Development and first results of the Dutch CRS-HIPEC quality registry.

Introduction: To improve care for patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases (CRC-PM) or pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), the Dutch CRS-HIPEC quality registry was initiated in 2019. The aims are to describe the development and content of this registry and to give insight into the data collected during the first years.

Materials And Methods: The registry is an observational cohort in the Netherlands.
