Background: Is "eyeballing" enough to determine cup malposition on anteroposterior (AP) pelvis radiographs before revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA) for instability? We aimed to determine the following: (1) the reliability of eyeballing cup inclination/anteversion on AP pelvis radiographs vs geometrical measurements and (2) whether visual assessments are affected by surgeon experience.

Materials And Methods: Fifteen de-identified standing AP pelvis radiographs obtained before rTHA for instability were evaluated by one orthopedic surgeon who measured inclination/anteversion of the cups (n=15) using a new simplified method based on basic geometry. Subsequently, 4 orthopedic surgeons and 4 fellows (postgraduate year 6) assessed inclination/anteversion by eyeballing.

Introduction: We report the analysis and characterization and the preliminary biological evaluation, of both liquid and solid wastes obtained from the processing of wheat () to produce the most iconic phytostimulin-based pharmaceutical products. The study aims to verify whether the waste can be reused in another process and not destined to its simple destructive disposal.

Methods: In this perspective, we first carried out an in-depth chemical-physical analysis of the waste together with a biocompatibility evaluation to plan the feasible final choice of waste destination.

Background: Apple peel is rich in natural molecules, many exhibiting a significant bioactivity. In this study, our objective was to establish a novel callus line derived from the apple peel of the Italian local variety Annurca, known to accumulate high levels of dihydrochalcones and terpenes. In this regard, we tested the impact of one elicitor, yeast extract, on the expression of genes encoding key enzymes involved in phloridzin and ursolic acid biosynthesis, leading to the accumulation of these antioxidant compounds.

While the urotensinergic system plays a role in influencing various pathologies, its potential remains untapped because of the absence of therapeutically effective urotensin II receptor (UTR) modulators. Herein, we developed analogues of human urotensin II () peptide in which, along with well-known antagonist-oriented modifications, the Glu residue was subjected to single-point mutations. The generated library was tested by a calcium mobilization assay and ex vivo experiments, also in competition with selected ligands.
