Background: The use of multiagent FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma in a neoadjuvant setting has been associated with an increased rate of complete pathological response (CPR) after surgery. This study investigated the long-term outcomes of patients with CPR in a multicenter setting to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinomas with CPR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy and surgery, between January 2006 and December 2023 across 22 French and  2 Belgian centers.

Background: Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) results in impaired blood flow in both epicardial vessels and the microvasculature and is a leading cause of poor outcomes in heart transplant (HT) recipients. Most patients have mild (ISHLT CAV 1) disease. This study examined outcomes amongst those with ISHLT CAV 1 and investigated the value of physiologic assessment via cardiac positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for added risk stratification.

Prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) may impact postnatal growth trajectories, increasing the risk of various diseases later in life. This issue is of particular concern in industrially contaminated areas, where environmental matrices contain mixtures of pollutants. This study aimed to evaluate the associations between cord serum concentrations of organochlorine pollutants (hexachlorobenzene-HCB and polychlorinated biphenyls-PCBs) and essential elements (EEs), and weight growth trajectories during the first year of life.

Additive manufacturing of carbide materials has received significant attention in the past years due to the ability to fabricate complex structures over different length scales. However, the typical limitations for powder-laden inks, such as nozzle clogging, rheological and geometric constraints, particle sedimentation, light-scattering and absorbing phenomena, narrow the range of available processes to manufacture carbide materials via conventional particle-based systems. To address these shortcomings, we have developed a one-pot synthetic route for the preparation of sol-gel-based UV-photocurable formulations, aiming at the fabrication of titanium carbide/carbon nanocomposites using digital light processing printing, pointing to potential applications in the field of nuclear physics.

Article Synopsis
  • Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) shows treatment resistance due to a dense stroma and immunosuppressive microenvironment, prompting research into combining FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy with VE-822, a DNA repair inhibitor.* -
  • The study utilized PDAC spheroid models and mouse models to analyze the combination's effects on tumor growth and the immune and fibrotic environment, revealing a strong synergistic effect and increased apoptosis.* -
  • Results indicated that the FOLFIRINOX and VE-822 combo significantly inhibited tumor growth more than FOLFIRINOX alone, improved immune cell activity, and modified the tumor microenvironment, suggesting a potential strategy to enhance treatment effectiveness.*
