Introduction: Community distress is associated with adverse outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease; however, its impact on clinical outcomes after peripheral vascular intervention (PVI) is uncertain. The Distressed Communities Index (DCI) is a composite measure of community distress measured at the zip code level. We evaluated the association between community distress, as measured by the DCI, and 24-month mortality and major amputation after PVI.

A persistent sciatic artery (PSA) is a rare embryologic variant that usually presents with aneurysmal degeneration. This report describes a 66-year-old man with severe comorbidities who presented with right forefoot gangrene and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection. Imaging revealed a unilateral PSA with a chronic occlusion at the level of the knee joint with no aneurysm.

Background: Surface disinfection is one of the elementary measures of infection prevention in healthcare facilities. However, the current widely used tissue dispenser systems can be microbially contaminated as a result of various causes and play a decisive role in the spread of pathogens. For this reason, these systems must be considered both as a source of infection in routine surveillance and as part of nosocomial outbreaks.

Guidance and surroundings awareness in outdoor handheld augmented reality.

Handheld and wearable devices are becoming ubiquitous in our lives and augmented reality technology is stepping out of the laboratory environment and becoming ready to be used by anyone with portable devices. The success of augmented reality applications for pedestrians depends on different factors including a reliable guidance system and preventing risks. We show that different guidance systems can be supplementary to provide directions to a point of interest and offer clues that help the user find the augmented data when they get close to the location they have to visit.

To compare outcomes of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) treated with a collagen Wound Conforming Matrix (WCM) or standard of care (SOC). WCM, a highly purified homogenate of 2.6% fibrillar bovine dermal collagen that conforms to the wound surface, was evaluated in comparison to daily saline-moistened gauze dressing changes (SOC) as part of a retrospective subset analysis of a randomized controlled trial in DFU.
