Quantitative photoacoustic imaging of two-photon absorption.

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is a hybrid imaging modality where we intend to reconstruct optical properties of heterogeneous media from measured ultrasound signals generated by the photoacoustic effect. In recent years, there have been considerable interests in using PAT to image two-photon absorption, in addition to the usual single-photon absorption, inside diffusive media. We present a mathematical model for quantitative image reconstruction in two-photon photoacoustic tomography (TP-PAT).

A national survey of consultants, specialists and specialist registrars in restorative dentistry for the assessment and treatment planning of oral cancer patients.

Aims: To investigate the approach of restorative dentists towards the assessment and treatment planning of oral cancer patients in the UK.

Material And Methods: The survey was conducted at the annual meeting of the Association of Consultants in Restorative Dentistry (ACSRD) and Specialist Registrar in Restorative Dentistry group (SRRDG) in September 2011. Delegates were requested to fill in a two-section questionnaire; the first section included 16 questions, evaluating cancer service provision in their units, and the second included five questions based on a clinical scenario evaluating dental management of a patient undergoing pre-radiotherapy treatment.

From the Department of Dental Specialties, Birmingham Children's Hospital. This case study describes a rare case of oral carcinoma cuniculatum in a 7-year-old female. She presented with an enlarged mass of the anterior maxilla arising from the gingiva.

An association between Mycobacterium malmoense and coal workers' pneumoconiosis.

An association between Mycobacterium malmoense and underlying lung disease has been described. The purpose of this study was to further explore this relationship and in particular to identify any relationship between Coal Workers' Pneumoconiosis (CWP) and M. malmoense infection.
