Introduction: Correction of pediatric spine deformities is challenging surgical procedures. This fragile group of patients has many risk factors, therefore prevention of most fearing complication-paraplegia is extremely important. Monitoring of transmission of neurophysiological impulses through motor and sensor pathways of spinal cord gives us an insight into cord's function, and predicts postoperative neurological status.

Purpose: Surface color is one of the main criteria to obtain an ideal esthetic. Many factors such as the type of the material, surface specifications, number of firings, firing temperature and thickness of the porcelain are all important to provide an unchanged surface color in dental ceramics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the color changes in dental ceramics according to the material type and glazing methods, during the multiple firings.

A full blood count is a routine, inexpensive and easy test that provides information about formed blood contents. The platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a novel inflammatory marker, which may be used in many diseases for predicting inflammation and mortality. The PLR can be easily calculated and is widely available but it may be affected by several inflammatory conditions.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of three apex locators (EndoMaster, Raypex, DentaPort ZX) and visual assessment in primary molar teeth in vitro.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-four extracted human primary molar teeth with and without root resorption were used in this study. After endodontic access preparation, root canal length was visually measured by means of a K file; then the teeth were embedded into alginate and the roots were measured again by mans of the three apex locators.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles affect cytokine secretion in human macrophages, revealing that high concentrations stimulate multiple cytokines while low levels mainly increase IL-6.
  • At concentrations below 1 μg/ml, the presence of a protein corona around the TiO2 nanoparticles triggers IL-6 secretion, which is linked to autoimmune disease development.
  • These findings highlight potential health risks associated with using TiO2 nanoparticles in medical and industrial applications, indicating the need for careful consideration of their effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Vascular inflammation is linked to hypertension, and higher levels of endocan indicate ongoing inflammation in hypertensive patients.
  • A study compared the effects of two antihypertensive medications, amlodipine and valsartan, on endocan levels in 37 newly diagnosed untreated hypertensive patients over a 3-month period.
  • Both medications significantly reduced blood pressure and endocan levels, but amlodipine showed a greater reduction in endocan levels and had more pronounced anti-inflammatory effects compared to valsartan.

Arterial shear stress was generally implicated in the development of atherosclerotic plaque (AP). Atherosclerotic plaque may be associated with myocardial bridging (MB). We evaluated the metabolic abnormalities which could determine the localization of AP at the proximal coronary segment of MB.

Ataxia-telangiectasia (AT) is a rare multisystem, neurodegenerative genetic disorder that is characterised by progressive neurological abnormalities, oculocutaneous telangiectasias and immunodeficiency. Delay in diagnosis or misdiagnosis is probable due to its wide clinical heterogeneity in infancy. Recurrent sinopulmonary infections are often the only presenting symptom and usually patients have decreased immunoglobulins.
