To analyze the expressional changes in the PI3K/Akt/GSK-3β pathway and metalloprotease in the cellular Alzheimer's Disease (AD) model with the effect of antioxidant resveratrol. Neuron-like cells were obtained by a two-step method of neuronal differentiation by using a combination of retinoic acid (RA) and brain-derived factor (BDNF) exposure. Then, the application of the amyloid beta peptide 25-35 (Aβ25-35) to the cell culture mimicked the environmental toxicity observed in AD.

Around 70 percent of cases of Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) etiology remain unexplained. The aim of our study is to contribute to the etiology and genetic background of POI. The majority of chromosome rearrangements are balanced reciprocal and Robertsonian translocations. It is now known that such abnormalities cause no phenotypic effect on the carrier but lead to increased risk of producing unbalanced gametes. Here, we report the inheritance of a translocation between chromosomes 3 and 21 in a family with one of two fetuses with Down Syndrome carrying the same translocation and the other also carrying the same translocation without the additional chromosome 21.

Genetic polymorphisms in the estrogen metabolism pathway might be involved in the risk of prostate carcinoma development. We evaluated the association between genetic polymorphisms in estrogen receptor alpha (ESR1) and catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) genes and the risk of developing familial prostate carcinoma.
