Objectives: We evaluated the influence of baseline volumetric 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) parameters and inflammatory prognostic markers on complete response (CR) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT).
Materials And Methods: In total, 90 patients with LARC, including those with and without CR, were evaluated based on baseline volumetric PET/CT parameters, such as maximum standard uptake value, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), tumor lesion glycolysis, and inflammatory prognostic markers, including the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio.
Results: Of the 90 patients, 62 (68.
Objective: To study the relationship between FK506-binding protein 51 (FKBP51) and ovarian aging and/or diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) in human ovaries by comparing FKBP51 levels in granulosa cells (GCs) and cumulus cells (CCs), collected during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) from women of advanced reproductive age and/or with a diagnosis of DOR with that of young women with normal ovarian reserve. To explore the association between increased FKBP51 expression and human ovarian aging further, expression of FKBP51 was compared in ovarian stroma of postmenopausal vs. premenopausal women.

Herein, the role of decidual cells in the regulation of HPGD expression at the maternal-fetal interface was investigated.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral azithromycin treatment combined with topical antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agents in pediatric patients with chronic severe bilateral blepharokeratoconjunctivitis.
Methods: Patients younger than 14 years with chronic and severe bilateral blepharokeratoconjunctivitis were reviewed retrospectively. Consecutive patients receiving oral azithromycin treatment were included.
Introduction: Naples prognostic score (NPS) based on nutritional and inflammatory parameters can predict response to chemotherapy and overall survival (OS) in many cancer types. However, its significance in metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC) remains unclear. We evaluated the prognostic significance of the NPS in patients with metastatic PC receiving first line chemotherapy.

Methods: Thirty-five patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure and receiving hemodialysis treatment 3 days a week and 35 healthy individuals were tested with pure tone audiometry, video head impulse test, and post-head shake nystagmus test. Dizziness Handicap Inventory was applied to all participants.
Leptin plays a crucial role in regulating energy homoeostasis, neuroendocrine function, metabolism, and immune and inflammatory responses. The adipose tissue is a main source of leptin, but during pregnancy, leptin is also secreted primarily by the placenta. Circulating leptin levels peak during the second trimester of human pregnancy and fall after labor.

Design: Laboratory based experimental study.
Setting: Academic hospital and laboratory.
Background: In early-stage lip cancer, spread to cervical lymph nodes is extremely rare. Elective neck treatment options include suprahyoid or supraomohyoid neck dissection, sentinel lymph node biopsy, or close follow-up. Aim: In this study, our aim was to investigate the effect of elective surgery on survival in patients operated for early-stage lip cancer.

Furthermore, hydrogels with responsive features present potential platforms for delivering therapeutics to desired sites in the body. Herein, temperature-responsive hydrogel scaffolds with embedded targeted nanoparticles were utilized to achieve controlled drug delivery via local drug administration.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFossil mollusc shells are used for dating geological materials because they are well preserved throughout geological time. In this study, the radicals in the structure of fossil mollusc shells (Dreissena iconica, Valvata piscinalis, Bithynia tentaculate, Unio pictorum) collected from the Eastern Part of Old Konya Lake in Türkiye were investigated by EPR technique. For all fossil shells, microwave and temperature dependence of the signals were examined, and the signals suitable for dating are discussed.

Exposure to ionizing radiation can also lead to the formation of stable or unstable radicals in the structures of drugs, as in many materials. The concentrations of these radicals may show a linear dependence on the radiation dose exposed. Since drugs are materials that can be found next to or on radiation victims during a possible nuclear or radiological accident, it is very meaningful to determine the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) dosimetric properties of stable radicals in their structures.

Trait anger is the strong predictor of various psychological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and hostility. Explaining how and why this relationship occurs is crucial to come up with more effective prevention and intervention strategies in the field. To this end, the current study aimed to reveal the mediating effect of early maladaptive schemas, which is the basic concept of schema therapy, on the relations of trait anger and psychological symptoms.

The combination of fragile microvessels and enhanced tissue factor levels in decidualized HESCs generates excess thrombin, which contributes to abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) by inducing inflammation, aberrant angiogenesis, and proteolysis. The- zinc finger and BTB domain containing 16 (ZBTB16) has been reported as an essential regulator of decidualization.

In this study, a vision based real-time traffic flow monitoring system has been developed to extract statistics passes through the intersections. A novel object tracking and data association algorithms have been developed using the bounding-box properties to estimate the vehicle trajectories. Then, rich traffic flow information such as directional and total counting, instantaneous and average speed of vehicles are calculated from the predicted trajectories.

Materials And Methods: In this prospective observational study including 109 pregnant women, the fetal pancreas size and maternal serum biomarkers GA and IRAP were measured at the gestational age of 20-22 weeks and later at the gestational age of 24-28 weeks, in 19 participants of them, GDM was confirmed with the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and the fetal pancreas size was measured in all the participants again.
Results: The median fetal pancreas sizes were significantly higher in women with or without GDM when measured at the 24-28 weeks of pregnancy compared to those at the 20-22 weeks of pregnancy (p < 0.
Thalassemia intermedia (TI) patients may need a transfusion during physiological stress conditions, such as pregnancy. We present a case of a female TI patient with emerging transfusion-refractory anaemia during pregnancy, which resolved after splenectomy performed simultaneously with cesarean delivery. A 26-year pregnant woman at 29th gestational weeks was referred with a diagnosis of TI due to emerging anaemia which was refractory to transfusion.

Certain mutations in kinase domain, off-target effects and resistance problems of current TK inhibitors require the discovery of novel Abl TK inhibitors. For this purpose, herein, we synthesized new gypsogenin derivatives (6a-l) and evaluated their anticancer effects towards CML cells along with healthy cell line and different leukemic cells.

Background: Due to their primary effects on DNA synthesis, antimetabolites are most effective against actively dividing cells and are significantly specific to the cell cycle phase. Pralatrexate (PDX), an antifolate metabolite designed to accumulate in cancer cells, was the first new agent approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of resistant/recurrent peripheral T-cell lymphomas. PDX was a drug that is frequently used not only for PTCL, but also for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), extranodal natural killer (NK) / T-cell lymphoma.

Although long-term use of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin has been reported to cause QT prolongation and malign arrhythmia, there is not enough data about the effect of short-term use on arrhythmia. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effect of hydroxychloroquine alone and hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin on corrected QT (QTc).
