Article Synopsis
  • The study examines factors contributing to empty follicle syndrome (EFS) in patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
  • Researchers analyzed data from patients divided into two groups based on the presence of empty follicles at oocyte retrieval, focusing on variables like age, BMI, hormone levels, and treatment specifics.
  • Findings identified increased BMI, low AMH, high baseline FSH, low baseline AFC, high gonadotropin dosage, and extended ovulation induction time as independent risk factors for EFS in this population.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates if the Pfannenstiel skin incision during cesarean deliveries can be modified based on the size of the fetal head's occipitofrontal diameter (OFD).
  • Among 114 nulliparous women, the incision length was closely aligned with the fetal head size, achieving a 95.6% success rate without extensions for the majority.
  • The technique allows for a more cosmetic incision while maintaining safety and comparable outcomes for newborns.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess serum C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) and androgen levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared to healthy women.
  • Out of 90 women aged 18 to 40, 36 were diagnosed with PCOS and showed significantly higher levels of various androgens and CNP, alongside a lower sex-hormone-binding globulin level.
  • The findings suggest elevated CNP in PCOS patients, indicating potential links to hyperandrogenism and anovulation, warranting further research into these relationships.

Objective: Asporin is secreted by theca cells in the mouse ovaries and is an effective marker at the gonadotropin-independent stage in secondary follicle development. It has an inhibitory effect on transforming growth factor beta and bone morphogenic proteins, which are involved in androgenesis process. Our aim was to compare serum asporin levels of polycystic ovary syndrome and control groups and examine the relationship between asporin and hyperandrogenism.
