Objective: To report the long-term data of the Triple procedure (medialization laryngoplasty, adduction arytenopexy, and cricothyroid subluxation) regarding complications and revisions in a large cohort of patients.

Study Design: Retrospective case series.

Methods: This study included patients who underwent ≥1 components of the Triple procedure between January 2000 and July 2019.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore the link between the severity of coronary artery lesions, measured by the SYNTAX score, and post-discharge sleep quality, assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).
  • A total of 424 patients with acute coronary syndrome participated, with 69.34% having a SYNTAX score of ≤22 and the rest >22, revealing no significant differences in age or sex distribution between the groups.
  • The analysis found that while several factors were linked to poor sleep quality, only a high SYNTAX score (>22) was independently associated with worse sleep quality after discharge.

Background: Antithrombotic therapy in atrial fibrillation is generally managed with the CHADS-VASc score. Aortic valve sclerosis (AVS) is a focal thickening of the aortic valve without a restriction of motion. AVS is related to several cardiovascular risk factors.

Background: The relationship between the visceral adipose index (VAI), a surrogate marker of visceral adipose tissue dysfunction, and coronary atherosclerotic plaque (CAP) morphology remains unclear.

Aims: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between the VAI and the coronary artery calcification (CAC) score and CAP morphology in asymptomatic patients.

Methods: We retrospectively assessed 782 patients between January 2012 and January 2020.

This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of the left ventricular (LV) global function index (LVGFI) in predicting major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome after long-term follow-up. This retrospective study included 718 patients with ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) and 781 patients with non-ST-elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). The LVGFI was calculated on echocardiography with the following formula: (LV stroke volume/[LV cavity volume + LV myocardial volume]) × 100.

Pesticides, which adversely affect the critical metabolic processes of organisms, disrupt the physiological balance by specifically targeting enzymes and may lead to such consequences that may lead to death. It provides benefits in agricultural activities. The p53 protein antagonizes bcl-2, an anti-apoptotic protein character, and induces apoptosis by causing mitochondrial membrane permeability.

Objectives: Validation of the translations of questionnaires from foreign languages is important. Failure to validate surveys can lead to misapplication.

Methods: A total of 64 patients who presented with nasal obstruction due to chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and 64 control subjects were included in this prospective instrument validation study.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a life threatening disease. Most of the patients diagnosed incidentally because of the asymptomatic nature of this disease. This study aimed to determine the frequency of abdominal aortic aneurysm and evaluate the value of opportunistic screening during transthoracic echocardiography.

Purpose: To assess the incidence and severity of 12 systemic side effects of serial intralesional steroid injections (SILSI) in patients with idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS).

Methods: This retrospective study included patients with iSGS who underwent SILSI with Triamcinolone 40 mg/dL. After SILSI, the patients were asked to answer 12 questions regarding frequently encountered systemic side effects of steroids.

Background: Left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) is an important complication of acute myocardial infarction. In this study, we investigated the role of N- Terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide level to predict the LVA development after acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: We prospectively enrolled 1519 consecutive patients with STEMI.

Objective: Intranasal Schirmer test serves as an objective measurement for evaluation of nasal secretion and humidity. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of septal deviation on nasal secretion and humidity by measuring the intranasal Schirmer test values in patients who had septal deviation and compare it to the values of our healthy volunteers.

Methods: The study included 52 patients with nasal septum deviation and 52 volunteers without any rhinologic complaints or deviated nasal septum.

Extrinsic compression of coronary arteries causing angina pectoris is very unusual. No data regarding the optimal treatment for coronary artery compression due to dilated cardiac chambers have been reported. In this case report, we describe a man with severe mitral valve stenosis and the dilated left atrium, which resulted in coronary artery compression, and the successful management of his condition by surgical reconstruction.

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the hyoid-related cephalometric measurements and the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) in patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Methods: A total of 56 subjects were evaluated by lateral cephalometric radiography and polysomnography (PSG). The OSA diagnosis was made according to the patients' AHI.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how radioactive iodine (RAI) treatment impacts nasal mucosa and functions in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma.
  • Results show that patients reported increased nasal obstruction and dryness after RAI treatment, with significant changes observed at 1 month and 1 year post-treatment.
  • Objective tests indicated decreased nasal moisture and delayed nasal clearance, suggesting RAI can negatively affect nasal function, warranting further research.

Dextrocardia is a rare cardiac anomaly in which the heart is located in the right chest along with the cardiac long axis directing to the right and inferiorly. Although, it is a rare clinical phenomenon, coronary artery disease with dextrocardia is presumed to be of similar frequency as in the general population. Percutaneous coronary intervention has some technical difficulties in these patients.
