Background: This study aims to investigate the impact of combining crush fluid resuscitation with gelsolin treatment on renal function in a rat model of crush syndrome.

Methods: Twenty-four adult female Wistar albino rats were randomly assigned to one of three groups for crush syndrome treat-ment: Control (C) group, gelsolin + crush fluid (gel) group, and crush fluid only (CF) group, each containing eight rats. Sedated rats underwent unilateral hind limb compression of 2 kg using a compression device, maintained for five hours.

The Effect of Eyelid Laxity on Corneal Mapping and Corneal Topography.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of eyelid laxity on the structure of the cornea.

Methods: This was a retrospective study performed in one institution. Patients with and without upper and lower eyelid laxity, which were determined using the snap-back test (SBT) and the upper eyelid distraction test (LDT), were evaluated for corneal structural changes with Scheimpflug imaging corneal tomography for the keratometric readings, and cor-neal spectral domain optical coherence tomography for the epithelial thickness (ET) measurements.

This study aims to add to the literature the early and mid-term clinical results of the controlled accelerated rehabilitation program we implemented in our clinic to enable patients to return to their daily activities faster after ACL reconstruction.

The impact of curfews on emergency departments and orthopedic traumas.

Background: The aim of our study was to investigate the impact of curfews imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic on emergency department visits, orthopedic trauma frequencies, and types of trauma.

Methods: In this single-center, retrospective cohort study, a total of 16,242 patients, including 3,020 trauma patients, were admitted to level 1 trauma center emergency department between April-June 2020 and 2021 (curfew group) and between April-June 2018 and 2019 (control group). Patients were separated according to emergency department triage categories and trauma mechanisms, and the changes in the days of curfew were analyzed.

Immobilization of Olive Leaf Extract with Chitosan Nanoparticles as an Adjunct to Enhance Cytotoxicity.

We immobilized the olive leaf extract (OLE) with chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) by optimizing the effect of various immobilization conditions, and OLE-loaded CNPs (OLE-CNPs) were then elaborately characterized physicochemically by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Under optimal conditions, CNPs were able to accommodate the OLE with a loading capacity of 97.5%.

Investigation of the anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects of melatonin on experimental liver damage by radiation.

Radiotherapy is one of the inevitable treatment approaches for several types of cancer. We aimed to show the protective and therapeutic effects of daily use of melatonin on liver tissues subjected to a single dose of 10 Gy (gamma-ray) total body radiation. Uncovering microscopic hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity at heterogeneous aqueous interfaces is essential as it dictates physico/chemical properties such as wetting, the electrical double layer, and reactivity. Several molecular and spectroscopic descriptors were proposed, but a major limitation is the lack of connections between them.
