Background And Aim: Many scoring systems are used to evaluate malnutrition, but there is no consensus on which scoring system would be more appropriate. We aimed to investigate the effect of malnutrition in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and to compare three scoring systems.
Methods And Results: A total of 2592 patients with non-valvular AF from 35 different centers in Turkey were included in this prospective study.
Patients presenting with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the emergency department (ED) require rapid and accurate electrocardiographic (ECG) evaluation. This study aims to assess conventional ECG markers for diagnosing non-ST-elevation ACS (NSTE-ACS) in patients with chest discomfort and right bundle branch block (RBBB). A nested case-control design was employed to compare patients with RBBB admitted to the ED for suspected cardiac ischemia, focusing on those who developed NSTE-ACS versus those who did not.

This study investigates the gender-specific phytochemical composition of root extracts from male and female Pistacia khinjuk plants and their influence on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Using natural bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids as reducing and stabilizing agents, the study demonstrates significant differences between the nanoparticles synthesized from male and female root extracts.

Materials And Methods: Seventy suspicious breast mass lesions (53 malignant and 17 benign) from seventy women who underwent diagnostic breast US complemented with shear wave elastography, US-guided core needle biopsy and verified histopathology were enrolled. Two radiologists, one with 15 years of experience and the other with one year of experience, evaluated the images for breast imaging-reporting and data system (BI-RADS) scoring.
Infants' language is often measured indirectly via parent reports, but mothers may underestimate or overestimate their infants' word comprehension. The current study examined estimations of mothers from diverse educational backgrounds regarding their infants' word comprehension and how these estimations are associated with their verbal input and infants' receptive vocabulary at 14 months. We compared 34 infants' looking-while-listening (LWL) performances with the mothers' Turkish Communicative Development Inventory (TCDI) reports to calculate the mothers' overestimation and underestimation.

Addressing a critical gap in intraoperative diagnostics, we introduce transformative artificial intelligence approach that significantly enhances the detection of ganglion cells in frozen sections. The data set comprises 366 frozen and 302 formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded hematoxylin and eosin-stained slides obtained from 164 patients from 3 centers.

The bi-annual international congress on autoimmunity is a huge opportunity for the medical community to discuss the latest updates in the field. During the 14th congress 2024 (AUTO14) in Ljubljana, artificial intelligence (AI) occupied special attention due to its recent and ongoing unequivocal role in various medical fields including autoimmunity. For instance, through a challenging debate between world-experts and the most popular AI bot used (ChatGPT), several clinical cases including a case of vasculitis were discussed in the plenary sessions.

Since drugs used to treat cancer cannot distinguish between cancerous and healthy cells, they cause systemic toxicity along with serious side effects.

These tumors are mainly diagnosed in the advanced stages and their response to therapy is unfavorable. In spite of the development of conventional therapeutics including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, the treatment of these tumors is still challenging.

Morin is a pentahydroxyflavone obtained from the leaves, stems, and fruits of various plantsmainly from the Moraceae family exhibiting diverse pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and free radical scavenging and helps treat diseases such as diabetes, myocardial infarction and cancer.
Methods: In this study, we conducted the synthesis of a nanocomposite with magnetic properties by coating biocompatible activated carbon obtained from okra plant leaves with magnetic nanoparticles.

Objective: This study investigated whether there are differences between software programs, voxel sizes, segmentation techniques, and intraoral scanners in terms of volume measurement in incisor teeth.
Study Design: Thirty extracted teeth were scanned using a 3D intraoral scanner. Physical volumes were measured using the water displacement method (WDM) as the gold standard.
Aim: This study focused on the simultaneous detection of amphetamine, 3,4-methyl enedioxy methamphetamine, morphine, benzoylecgonine, and 11-nor-9-carboxy- tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC-COOH) in whole blood and DBS. It is aimed to select a solvent mixture for liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) technique employing LC-MS/MS. The obtained DBS results were compared with the whole blood samples results.

Single-use PGEs modified with pulsed deposited manganese oxide (MnOx) film were used to attach the amino-terminated aptamer specific to the PSA via carbodiimide chemistry. The designed aptasensor was placed in an electrochemical cell containing ferri/ferrocyanide ions as a redox probe to measure the charge transfer resistances (R) of the electrode surface by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to follow the response of each modification step.

The Pericapsular Nerve Group Block (PENG) has shown promise in addressing this issue, but the ideal volume of local anesthetic for PENG is still uncertain. In our study, we aimed to analyze the effects of administering PENG block with two different volumes on analgesic quality for patients undergoing hip fracture surgery.

Hypertension contributes to both the development and progression of brain damage and cognitive dysfunction in the postmenopausal period in women. Carvacrol (CAR), which can easily cross the blood-brain barrier, exhibits neuroprotective properties due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic effects. In the present study, we have examined the effect of CAR treatment on learning-memory impairment in a post-menopausal hypertensive rat model that was induced by ovariectomy following two-kidney, one-clip renovascular hypertension surgery.

The ratio of pre-apheresis PB CD34 cells is the best parameter for predicting the product CD34 cell count. However, quantitating CD34 PB cells requires flow cytometry, which usually takes two or more hours to obtain the results.

The use of silk derived from silkworm cocoons in wound healing applications is attributed to its exceptional characteristics. Compared to mulberry silk, sericin from non-mulberry cocoons has higher water exchange mobility and moisture retention.
