Blastocystis is an intestinal protist commonly found in humans and many different animal species. It is probably the most common enteric parasite with an estimated one billion infections worldwide. The fecal materials for this study were collected from 100 cats and 200 dogs of different ages and sexes in shelters in Van, Turkey.

Materials And Methods: Based on ICD-10 codes in the national electronic database of the Turkish Ministry of Health covering the entire population of Türkiye (n = 85,279,553) from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2022, data on the prevalence of comorbidities in HF patients were obtained.

Comparison of rigid and elastic registration methods in software-based targeted prostate biopsy: a multicenter cohort study.

Background/aim: This study aims to compare the success rates of rigid registration (RR) and elastic registration (ER) systems in diagnosing all cancers and clinically significant prostate cancer (csPC) in software-based targeted prostate biopsies (TPBs) by performing matching analysis.

Pseudohypoaldosteronism (PHA) is a rare disorder that, if not promptly recognized and treated, can lead to life-threatening hyperkalemia resulting in cardiac arrest and death. Systemic PHA is caused by variants that deactivate the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) subunits. Management is challenging due to high-dose oral replacement therapy, and patients with systemic PHA require lifelong treatment.

New benzimidazole-indole-amide derivatives as potent α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.

New derivatives 6a-m with benzimidazole-indole-amide scaffold were developed, synthesized, and assessed for potential inhibitory effects on α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase (AChE). These compounds were synthesized by various amine derivatives. With the exception of two compounds, the α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of the title derivatives were more than that of the positive control acarbose.

Effect of eHealth Interventions on Symptom Management in CABG Surgical Patients: A Systematic Review.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of eHealth interventions on symptom management outcomes of patients undergoing CABG surgery. A systematic review was performed on CINAHL, PubMed, Web of Science, Ovid MEDLINE, and Scopus from 2006 to June 2022. Varroa species, commonly known as the honey bee mites, poses a significant challenge to the worldwide beekeeping industry. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of haplotype variation on morphology of Varroa destructor. Forty-one apiaries across Bingol province (Türkiye) and its districts were visited using random sampling to examine 2440 honey bee colonies.

Early detection of high blood pressure from natural speech sounds with graph diffusion network.

This study presents an innovative approach to cuffless blood pressure prediction by integrating speech and demographic features. With a focus on non-invasive monitoring, especially in remote regions, our model harnesses speech signals and demographic data to accurately estimate blood pressure. We found a strong correlation between our predictive model and early-stage high blood pressure, highlighting its potential for early detection.

Effectiveness of comprehensive approach in rejuvenating the aging lower periorbita.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of a comprehensive surgical approach for rejuvenation of the aging lower periorbita.

Methods: Between February 2018 and January 2023, 80 eyes of 40 patients with lower lid dermatochalasis (LLD), lower lid laxity (LLL) or orbicularis laxity of the lower lid (OL) admitted to the oculoplastic surgery department of our clinic were included in the study. 18 eyes had LLD, 14 eyes had LLL, 18 eyes had LLD and LLL, and 30 eyes had LLD, LLL and OL.

Evaluation of HOTAIR, HOXD8, HOXD9, HOXD11 gene expression levels in Turkish patients with acute and chronic myeloid leukemia: A single center experience.

Homeobox (HOX) transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) and HOX genes are reported to be more expressed in various cancers in humans in recent studies. The role of HOTAIR and HOXD genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is not well known. In this study, expression levels of HOXD8, HOXD9 and HOXD11 from HOXD gene family and HOTAIR were determined from peripheral blood samples of 30 AML and 30 CML patients and 20 healthy volunteers by quantitative Real Time PCR.

Effect of Food-Simulating Liquids on Hydrolytic Behavior of Resin Matrix Ceramics.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the hydrolytic behavior of different computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) resin matrix ceramics (RMCs) in different food-simulating liquids (FSLs).

Materials And Methods: Five different CAD/CAM blocks, one from polymer-infiltrated ceramic networks (PICNs; Vita Enamic (EN)) and four from resin-based composites (RBCs; Lava Ultimate (UL), Cerasmart (CER), Brilliant Crios (BR), and Block HC (HC)) were selected. Forty specimens were prepared for each material, and they randomly distributed to each FSLs.
