Aim: This study investigated potential preoperative predictors of pelvic lymph node (PLN) and para-aortic LN (PaLN) involvement in cervical cancer (CC).
Materials And Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 283 patients diagnosed with early (stage IA1-IIA) CC who underwent retroperitoneal LN dissection between January 1992 and February 2015. Several risk factors that are believed to influence PLN and PaLN involvement in CC were analyzed as follows: age >50 years, lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI), tumor size ≥2 cm, hemoglobin <12 g/dL, and nonsquamous cell histologic type.
Objectives: This study was performed to investigate prognostic factors status at smaller tumors in patients with stageIB1 cervical cancer (CC) who underwent modified radical or radical hysterectomy.
Matherial And Metods: Data from patients diagnosed with CC between January 1995 and January 2017 at the GynecologicalOncology Department, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital and Bakirkoy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital,Istanbul, Turkey, were investigated.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the treatment options and survival of uterine cervical cancer (UCC) patients who develop isolated pulmonary metastases (IPM) and to establish risk factors for IPM.
Material And Methods: Data from patients diagnosed with UCC between June 1991 and January 2017 at the Gynecological Oncology Department, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, were investigated. In total, 43 cases with IPM were evaluated retrospectively.
The purpose of this study was to develop a model predicting the probability of pelvic-paraaortic node metastases in high-risk endometrial cancer patients. This trial included 41 high-risk endometrial cancer patients. All of the patients underwent an 18-FDG PET-CT followed by surgical staging, including a pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAim: We sought to identify risk factors and management options for uterine cervical cancer (UCC) patients with a vertebral metastasis (VM) treated over the course of 23 years.
Methods: Among 844 UCC patients, 18 were diagnosed with a VM. Thirty-six control patients with UCC but without recurrence were matched to these 18 in terms of stage and histological tumor type using a dependent random sampling method.
Background/aim: The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of complete surgical staging of patients with mucinous borderline ovarian tumors (mBOTs) especially appendectomy on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Patients And Methods: The database of 14 gynecological oncology departments from Turkey and Germany were comprehensively searched for women who underwent primary surgery for an ovarian tumor between January 1, 1998, and December 31, 2015, and whose final diagnosis was mBOT.
Results: A total of 364 patients with mBOT with a median age of 43.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an intraoperative hemostatic cellulose agent (BLOODCARE powder [Life Line, Brno, Czech Republic]) on reducing the incidence of postoperative chylous ascites (PCA) after complete pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy (PPALN) in patients with gynecological cancers treated with laparotomy.
Methods: This case control study reviewed 150 patients with gynecological cancer who underwent PPALN. In the study group (n = 75), BLOODCARE powder was applied below the left renal vein and bilateral obturator fossa.
Introduction: We compared the disease free-survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) rates of patients with high-grade serous primary fallopian tube cancer (HG-sPFTC) and high-grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer (HG-sEOC).
Methods: 22 early-stage cancer patients (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stages I-II) with HG-sPFTC were retrospectively evaluated. In addition, 44 control patients diagnosed with HG-sEOC were matched to these patients with respect to tumor stage at diagnosis.
The aim of this study was to examine the associations between microcystic, elongated, and fragmented (MELF) pattern and other prognostic factors and lymph node involvement, disease-free survival, and overall survival (OS) using a case-control group consisting of grade I-II endometrioid endometrial carcinoma (EEC) patients with/without lymph node involvement. The files of the patients were searched electronically for all hysterectomy specimens with a diagnosis of grade I-II EEC of the uterine body from January 1, 2008 to July 31, 2014. Lymph node involvement was detected in 27 patients who were histologically diagnosed with grade I-II EEC, and these patients made up the case group.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether coffee consumption accelerates the recovery of bowel function after complete staging surgery of gynecologic cancers.
Study Design: In this randomized controlled trial, 114 patients were allocated preoperatively to either postoperative coffee consumption with 3 times daily (n=58) or routine postoperative care without coffee consumption (n=56).
Background: The optimal surgical management and staging of borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) are controversial. Institutions have different surgical approaches for the treatment of BOTs. Here, we performed a retrospective review of clinical characteristics, surgical management and surgical outcomes, and sought to identify variables affecting disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with BOTs.

Patients And Methods: A total of 21 cases with IVM were evaluated retrospectively. In addition, 42 control patients diagnosed with CC without recurrence were matched.
Objective: This study compared two methods of expanding the uterine incision at the time of cesarean delivery, which is associated with the risk of unintended extension.
Study Design: This randomized trial included 1,076 women who underwent elective cesarean delivery. The primary outcome measure was the incidence of unintended extension related to the method used for expanding the uterine incision.
Objective: To determine whether maternal vitamin C and vitamin E supplementation after the premature rupture of membranes is associated with an increase in the latency period before delivery.
Methods: In the present prospective open randomized trial, 229 pregnant women with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) at ≥ 24.0 and < 34.
Objective: The aim of this randomized study was to compare 2 protocols for inducing labor in women with premature rupture of membranes (PROM) at term.
Study Design: Women with PROM and a Bishop score ≤5 were randomly assigned to receive either an intravenous oxytocin infusion (n = 223) or a dinoprostone pessary followed 6 hours later by an intravenous oxytocin infusion (n = 227).
Results: Vaginal delivery within 24 hours of labor induction increased significantly with sustained-released dinoprostone followed by oxytocin infusion (78.
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of oxygen inhalation after delivery in reducing vaginal blood loss during the third and fourth stages of labour.
Methods: In this prospective randomised trial, 450 women undergoing vaginal delivery who did not have risk factors for post-partum haemorrhage were randomly assigned to receive either 8 L/min O(2) via a face mask for 2 h (n = 214) or normally breathe room air after the delivery (n = 216). The oxygen was given to the women after delivering their babies.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of sustained-release dinoprostone vaginal pessary and concurrent high-dose oxytocin infusion with sustained-release dinoprostone vaginal pessary followed 6 h later by high-dose oxytocin infusion for cervical ripening and labor induction.
Methods: A total of 500 nulliparous or multiparous women with a singleton pregnancy, Bishop score ≤4 and admitted for labor induction. Women were randomly assigned to induction of labor using intravaginal dinoprostone with concurrent high-dose oxytocin (n = 250) or intravaginal dinoprostone pessary followed 6 h later by high-dose oxytocin (n = 250).
We sought to determine the efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid (TA) in reducing blood loss during elective cesarean section (CS). We performed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 660 women who underwent elective CS. The patients were randomly selected to receive an intravenous infusion of either TA (1 g/10 mL in 20 mL of 5% glucose; N = 330) or 30 mL 5% glucose prior to surgery.
