Recently, it has been shown that protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) dysfunction was common in many cancer types and was mediated by various inactivation mechanisms. Although many research studies observed antitumor effect of propolis extracts in various types of cancer, the mechanism of effect are still obscure. In this study, we investigated the effect of propolis on PPP2R1A expression and its relationship with apoptosis in the SW-620 (colorectal cancer), DU-145 and PC-3 (prostate cancer), and MCF-7 (breast cancer) cell lines, with WI-38 (healthy fibroblast) cells serving as the control.

Objectives: Fournier's gangrene is an aggressive, rapidly progressing, and life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis of the perineal and genital regions. Various scoring systems have been developed for predicting survival and prognosis in Fournier's gangrene. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the newly developed Fournier's gangrene mortality index (FGMI) in predicting mortality associated with Fournier's gangrene.

This study aimed to compare the accuracy and reliability of Alvarado Score (AS) and Appendicitis Inflammatory Response Score (AIRS) in pregnant women undergoing surgery for acute appendicitis (AA). The files of 53 pregnant women with a diagnosis of AA who underwent surgery in our clinic between February 2014 and December 2018 were examined retrospectively. The patients were divided into 3 groups as follows: first trimester between 0 and 14 weeks, second trimester between 15 and 28 weeks, and third trimester between 29 and 42 weeks.

Pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma, commonly known as pancreatic cancer (PC), is a cancer-related cause of death due to delayed diagnosis, metastasis, and drug resistance. Patients with PC suffer from incorrect responses to chemotherapy due to inherent and acquired chemical resistance. Numerous studies have shown the mechanism of the effect of chemoresistance on PC, such as genetic and epigenetic changes or the elucidation of signaling pathways.

Aim: There are certain problems experienced while retightening the seton material during the patient follow-ups, such as pain and anaesthesia requirements in perianal fistula. The aim of the present study was to compare a sailor's knot with other seton tightening methods for the surgical treatment of perianal fistulas.

Material And Methods: The records of 105 patients who underwent surgeries for perianal fistulas using the seton method between 2016 and 2019 were analysed retrospectively.

Unlabelled: Laparoscopic appendectomy is increasingly being performed because of its quick recovery time, low instance of wound infection, and early return of patients to home and work. Operating time should be short yet safe. Therefore, in this study, we compared the effects of various sealing systems on the length of surgery and examined whether these systems could be used to separate the appendix from its stump successfully.

Background: Acute appendicitis is the most frequent abdominal condition that requires non-obstetric surgical intervention during pregnancy. This study aims to scan pregnant patients operated on for acute appendicitis to evaluate the efficiency of using the Alvarado Score (AS) for diagnosis.

Methods: Our study included 48 pregnant patients who were pre-diagnosed with acute appendicitis and operated on at our department of general surgery from January 2010 to July 2016 and whose files were accessed.

Aim: This study was planned to evaluate blood and tissue levels of procalcitonin, IL-6 and Oxidative Stress Index (OSI), which have a role in the pathophysiology of inflammation, in rats with experimental mild and severe pancreatitis.

Material And Methods: Thirty male Wistar Albino rats were included in the study and the rats were equally divided into the three groups. After 1, 5 and 24 hours, blood was obtained from the tail of all rats and samples were taken from pancreas tissue after 24 hours.

Introduction: Acute pancreatitis is basically considered as activation of inactive proenzymes in the pancreas and digestion of the gland itself. This study was performed to determine if prolidase enzyme, which plays a role in collagen metabolism, could be used as a parameter to assess the severity of pancreatitis in experimentally induced mild and severe pancreatitis.

Material And Method: To create experimentally induced acute pancreatitis 0.

Solitary fibrous tumour (SFT) is a relatively uncommon spindle-cell neoplasm that most commonly arises in the pleura, but which may also arise from other serosal surfaces outside the pleura. However, SFT is now known to affect various serosal surfaces including pericardium, peritoneum, retroperitoneum nasal and paranasal sinuses, thyroid, cavernous sinus or pituitary fossa. The histologic features of this lesion may create diagnostic confusion with a variety of other spindle-cell tumours.
