Background/objectives: This study aimed to investigate the surgical treatment and management of hydrocephalus in infants with meningomyelocele and compare the single-center experience with the previous studies.
Methods: This retrospective study included 81 infants (47 females and 34 males) who underwent meningomyelocele closure surgery and subsequent ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery for hydrocephalus. Clinical and demographic data were retrospectively collected from hospital records, focusing on variables such as the timing of VP shunt placement relative to MMC closure, postoperative complications, and the need for shunt revisions.
Clinical Relevance: Endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (EN-DCR) is one of the preferred interventions for occlusion of the nasolacrimal drainage system. Understanding the bulbar conjunctival changes that occur after EN-DCR surgery will provide better insight into the effect of this procedure on visual quality and patient comfort.
Background: This study aimed to evaluate visual quality and bulbar conjunctival cytologic changes using in vivo confocal microscopy and corneal topography in patients with epiphora resulting from nasolacrimal duct obstruction after EN-DCR.
Objective: To compare the results of one-step surgery (OSS) and two-step surgery (TSS) in the surgical management of eyelid basal cell carcinomas (BCC).
Method: A total of 43 eyes of 43 patients were included. OSS was applied to 22 of these patients, while TSS was applied to 21 patients.
Sheep was one of the first domesticated animals in Neolithic West Eurasia. The zooarchaeological record suggests that domestication first took place in Southwest Asia, although much remains unresolved about the precise location(s) and timing(s) of earliest domestication, or the post-domestication history of sheep. Here, we present 24 new partial sheep paleogenomes, including a 13,000-year-old Epipaleolithic Central Anatolian wild sheep, as well as 14 domestic sheep from Neolithic Anatolia, two from Neolithic Iran, two from Neolithic Iberia, three from Neolithic France, and one each from Late Neolithic/Bronze Age Baltic and South Russia, in addition to five present-day Central Anatolian Mouflons and two present-day Cyprian Mouflons.

Methods: Dentin samples were categorized into four contamination conditions (no contamination, saliva, blood, saliva/blood mixed) and subjected to two decontamination methods (water rinse and KC use), forming eight groups. Scanning electron microscope images representing each group were obtained.
5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a chemotherapeutic agent against oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), is limited by poor pharmacokinetics and toxicity. The pH-sensitive zeolite imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) may increase the selectivity and length of 5-FU released into the acidic tumor microenvironment. This study examined the in vitro 5-FU absorption and release profiles of ZIF-8, and then progressed to cytotoxicity assays using the OSCC primary cell line SCC7.

Osteosarcopenia has emerged with the growing data proving the high rate of simultaneous occurrence of sarcopenia and osteoporosis. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between osteoporosis, and muscle quality by grading the fatty infiltration in paraspinal muscles according to the Goutallier classification in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the addition of zeolite to silver-reinforced glass ionomer cement on the release of silver ions over time.
Methods: Five concentrations of silver-zeolite (0%, 0.
Sheep are among the earliest domesticated livestock species, with a wide variety of breeds present today. However, it remains unclear how far back this diversity goes, with formal documentation only dating back a few centuries. North European short-tailed (NEST) breeds are often assumed to be among the oldest domestic sheep populations, even thought to represent relicts of the earliest sheep expansions during the Neolithic period reaching Scandinavia <6,000 years ago.

Purpose: To investigate the histopathological findings of the anterior lens capsule in pediatric patients who had surgery for cataracts.
Methods: This study is a prospective interventional study. Anterior capsule tissue samples that were obtained by the anterior capsulotomy method during phacoemulsification surgery were fixed and examined under a transmission electron microscope.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of rotation frequency (rpm) of different polishing discs on the surface roughness of a nanohybrid resin composite material. 126 specimens were prepared in metal molds of 10 mm diameter and 2 mm depth using a nanohybrid resin composite material. The prepared specimens were kept in distilled water for 24 hours.

While the exact origins of these lineages remain unclear, they have been suggested to be close relatives of domestic sheep or remnants of proto-domestic sheep. Here, we study whole genome sequences of n = 5 Anatolian mouflons and n = 10 Cyprian mouflons in terms of population history and diversity, comparing them with eight other extant sheep lineages.

This systematic review assessed whether bond strength is affected by the type of aging conditions, bonding agents, flowable resin composites, impression materials, temporary materials, and/or resin cement used within the IDS procedure. A comprehensive database search of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Ovid Medline, Web of Sciences, Cochrane Library, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source, and ProQuest was carried out up to 30 January 2024 without publication year or language limitations.

Methods: Thirty-five patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure and receiving hemodialysis treatment 3 days a week and 35 healthy individuals were tested with pure tone audiometry, video head impulse test, and post-head shake nystagmus test. Dizziness Handicap Inventory was applied to all participants.
The aim of this study is to determine the functioning of adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) diagnosed in childhood and depression and burnout levels among their parents. A total of 261 adults with ASDs and their parents were recruited for the study. Both parents completed the Beck Depression and Maslach Burnout Inventories and reported the functioning of their adult offspring with ASDs.

Methods: Only one eye of each subject was included in the study. Patients with TED and controls were included in the study.
Background: We investigated whether the photopic negative response (PhNR) in the electroretinogram (ERG) was affected in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and whether it was associated with retinal changes on optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Methods: Thirty-two patients with PD and 31 age and sex-matched healthy controls from a single tertiary centre were included in the study. Hoehn and Yahr scale scores and the presence of REM sleep behaviour were recorded.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of acidic beverages on the hardness, elastic modulus, and wear resistance of four different resin-based restorative materials.
Methods And Materials: A total of 128 specimens (10 mm diameter, 4 mm thickness) were prepared from a conventional resin composite (Filtek Z250 [Z250]), a giomer bulk-fill (Beautifil Bulk Restorative [BBR]) and two nongiomer bulk-fill materials (Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill [TNC] and SonicFill 2 [SF2]). Each material group was divided into four subgroups (n=8) according to the storage media: artificial saliva (control), orange juice, regular Coke, and sports drink.
