Background: Sirtuins and FoxO1 are reported to be important in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia. This study aimed to investigate whether serum FoxO1 and SIRT2 concentrations differ between preeclampsia and normal pregnancy and also to compare these markers in early- and late-onset preeclampsia.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 27 women with early-onset preeclampsia, 27 women with late-onset preeclampsia, and 26 healthy normotensive pregnant controls.
The detection of intracellular biothiols (cysteine, N-acetyl cysteine, and glutathione) with high selectivity and sensitivity is important to reveal biological functions. In this study, a 2-(2-methoxy-4-methylphenoxy)-3-chloro-5,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione (DDN-O) compound was newly synthesized and used as a fluorogenic probe (detector molecule) in the fluorometric method for the rapid, highly selective, and sensitive determination of biothiols. The intensity values (λ = 260 nm, λ = 620 nm) of the product were measured by adding biothiols to the reaction medium at varying concentrations and the glutathione equivalent thiol content values of each biothiol were calculated.

Patients And Methods: We designed a single-center retrospective study that included 165 pediatric trauma patients in the PICU between January 2020 and June 2024.
Results: Of 165 patients, 108 (69.
Inhalers spray over 100 million drug particles into the mouth, where a significant portion of the drug may deposit. Understanding how the complex interplay between particle and solid phases influence deposition is crucial for optimising treatments. Existing modelling studies neglect any effect of particle momentum on the fluid (one-way coupling), which may cause poor prediction of forces acting on particles.

It is also a fact that surgical sequence can affect the results in terms of accuracy. Various studies stated that both approaches offer comparable results when properly planned and implemented; however, further clinical studies are still needed.

Objectives: To assess the symmetry of various cranial anthropometric points used as references for yaw orientation in the natural head position (NHP), relative to the mid-sagittal plane.
Materials And Methods: A prospective analysis using tomography data from 55 patients was conducted. Radiopaque markers, placed on patients in NHP, facilitated head position recording in three planes, with subsequent digital transfer for orientation analysis.
Introduction: Serum lactate levels have been recognized as a robust marker for predicting disease severity and survival in many critically ill children but consensus is lacking regarding its utility in diabetic ketoacidosis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between initial lactate levels and disease severity in pediatric patients presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis.
Methods: This single-center retrospective descriptive study involved pediatric patients with diabetic ketoacidosis in the pediatric emergency department between January 2022 and April 2023.
Objective: Preeclampsia, whose pathophysiology is still not fully elucidated today, is a pregnancy-specific disease that affects most organ systems in pregnant women, including the central nervous system. In this context, we aimed to investigate the effects of preeclampsia on blood flow in the ophthalmic artery of the eye, which is considered a part of the central nervous system.
Materials And Methods: This prospective, non-interventional cohort study was conducted between February 2022 and June 2022 at Umraniye Training and Research Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Istanbul, Turkey.
Background/aims: This study is aimed to compare the effects of nutrition which has been enriched with different amounts of gluten to gluten-free diets on weight gain, diabetogenic state, hematological, and biochemical parameters.
Materials And Methods: A total of 40 newly weaned male Wistar albino rats used in the study were randomized into 4 different groups based on the gluten rations they were given. Following 12 weeks of diet they were killed and intracardiac blood samples were collected.
Background: This study aimed to compare the predictive value of Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) to Pediatric Risk of Mortality-3 (PRISM-3), Pediatric Trauma Score (PTS), and Pediatric Glasgow Coma Score (pGCS) in determining clinical severity and mortality among critical pediatric trauma patients.
Method: A total of 122 patients monitored due to trauma in the pediatric intensive care unit between 2020 and 2023 were included in the study. Physical examination findings, vital parameters, laboratory values, and all scoring calculations for patients during emergency room admissions and on the first day of intensive care follow-up were recorded.
Coughing is a respiratory behavior that plays a crucial role in protecting the respiratory system. Here we show that the nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS) in mice contains heterogenous neuronal populations that differentially control breathing. Within these subtypes, activation of tachykinin 1 (Tac1)-expressing neurons triggers specific respiratory behaviors that, as revealed by our detailed characterization, are cough-like behaviors.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of maternal iron deficiency anemia on the umbilical cord level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which plays a very important role in the central nervous system.
Methods: Our research was planned as a quantitative, prospective, and analytical type of study. A total of 90 volunteers, term, singleton pregnant hospitalized in the Health Sciences University Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic between September 2021 and August 2022 were included in this study.
The seventh iteration of the reference genome assembly for Rattus norvegicus-mRatBN7.2-corrects numerous misplaced segments and reduces base-level errors by approximately 9-fold and increases contiguity by 290-fold compared with its predecessor. Gene annotations are now more complete, improving the mapping precision of genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomics datasets.

Materials And Methods: The study was conducted retrospectively on cases followed up in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) between October 2019 and December 2021.
Results: Of all cases, 43 (55.
For the one billion sufferers of respiratory disease, managing their disease with inhalers crucially influences their quality of life. Generic treatment plans could be improved with the aid of computational models that account for patient-specific features such as breathing pattern, lung pathology and morphology. Therefore, we aim to develop and validate an automated computational framework for patient-specific deposition modelling.

The study aimed to investigate whether serum IL-1β, FoxO1and Sesn2 concentrations differed between threatened preterm labor (TPL) and uncomplicated pregnancies. This study was conducted on 54 women with TPL pregnancies and 26 healthy pregnant women. The TPL group was further divided into two subgroups according to the gestational age at delivery.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensory function of the infraorbital nerve after orthognathic surgery (OS).
Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent Le Fort I osteotomy with or without BSSO for dentofacial deformity treatment were studied. Two groups were created according to whether BSSO was performed.
Objective: Hirsutism affects 5-15% of women of reproductive age. Health-related quality of life (HQOL) is a multidimensional assessment of well-being that considers the physical, social, and emotional aspects associated with a specific disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate HQOL in patients diagnosed with idiopathic hirsutism (IH) and compare it with patients diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
