Highly selective inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6is) have emerged as a standart of care for first- and second-line therapies in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) for HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. It has been reported that combination therapy is more effective than ET alone and is safe in elderly patients as well as young patients. Nevertheless, elderly and very old patients with HR+/HER2-MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) combinations are relatively underrepresented in randomized controlled trials.

Pomegranate, hawthorn, gilaburu, blackberry, and rosehip vinegar postbiotic solutions (VPS) were produced by traditional methods. The bioactive components of VPS, antioxidant capacity, antimicrobial activities, minimum inhibition concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) assays were determined. While rosehip VPS has the highest amount of lactic acid, phenolic and flavonoids, gilaburu VPS has the highest butyric acid.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) disorders, formerly primary immune deficiency diseases, are a heterogeneous group of disorders with variable hereditary transitions, clinical manifestations, complications and varying disease severity. Many of the clinical symptoms, signs and complications in IEI patients can be attributed to inflammatory and immune dysregulatory processes due to loss of microbial diversity (dysbiosis). For example, in common variable immunodeficiency patients, the diversity of bacteria, but not fungi, in the gut microbiota has been found to be reduced and significantly altered.

Article Synopsis
  • Vitamin D deficiency is linked to poor cardiovascular health and impaired diastolic function, especially in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
  • A study involving 117 ACS patients used echocardiography to measure diastolic function and found that lower vitamin D levels correlated with worse diastolic metrics.
  • Results indicated that low vitamin D was a significant predictor and independent risk factor for diastolic dysfunction in these patients, even with preserved left ventricular systolic function.

() is a tumor suppressor gene involved in DNA repair and cell cycle regulation. Pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants in are associated with increased cancer risk. Conversely, recent large cohort studies have identified certain variants that, despite being classified as P/LP by in silico analysis, are considered low risk.

Background/aim: Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots have become increasingly prevalent in recent years as potential sources of online healthcare information for patients when making medical/dental decisions. This study assessed the readability, quality, and accuracy of responses provided by three AI chatbots to questions related to traumatic dental injuries (TDIs), either retrieved from popular question-answer sites or manually created based on the hypothetical case scenarios.

Materials And Methods: A total of 59 traumatic injury queries were directed at ChatGPT 3.

Introduction: Sedentary lifestyles and diets with high glycemic indexes are considered to be contributing factors to the development of obesity, type 2 diabetes in humans. Metformin, a biguanide medication commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes, has been observed to be associated with longevity; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying this observation are still unknown.

Methods: The effects of metformin and high glucose, which have important roles in aging-related disease such as diabetes and cancer, were studied in lin-35 worms because they are associated with cancer-associated pRb function in mammals and have a tumour suppressor property.

Objectives: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the layered curriculum method (LCM) and project-based learning method (PBLM), on dental students in the evaluation of cysts and tumors affecting the jaws and surrounding tissues, which have an important place in dental practice.

Methods: Forty-nine 3rd-year dental students who agreed to participate in the study voluntarily were randomly divided into two groups: LCM and PBLM. Pre-test was administered to all students.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common atrial arrhythmia after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and is associated with high mortality. Although some clinical and echocardiographic variables have been defined to predict new-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF), electrophysiologic (EP) parameters have not been identified yet. We aimed to investigate the impact of atrial refractoriness on NOAF after TAVI.

The study tested new oral plant-based formulations (F) on rats with monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis, measuring inflammation, antioxidant levels, paw size, stride, and analyzing knee joint images. Fifty-six female Sprague Dawley rats were allocated into 8 groups: (1) Control, (2) MIA (OA induced with MIA), (3) MIA + F1 [curcuminoids+gingerols+acetyl-11-keto-β boswellic acid (AKBA)], (4) MIA + F2 (curcuminoids+Withania glycosides+AKBA), (5) MIA + F3 (curcuminoids+total withanolides+AKBA), (6) MIA + F4 (curcuminoids, AKBA), (7) MIA + UCII (type II collagen), and (8) MIA + GCHON (Glucosamine Chondroitin). Treatments F1 to F4 reduced right joint diameter and improved stride length and paw area in OA rats.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the pain and fear levels associated with intramuscular injections in children aged 4 to 6 years at two different injection sites: the vastus lateralis and the ventrogluteal.
  • A randomized trial design involved 43 children receiving injections at the ventrogluteal site and 40 at the vastus lateralis site, measuring fear and pain through specific scales and the duration of crying during the procedure.
  • Results indicated that children injected in the ventrogluteal site experienced significantly less fear, pain, and crying time compared to those who received injections in the vastus lateralis site.

Article Synopsis
  • The cold pressor test (CPT) is used to assess autonomic functions by inducing sympathetic activation, leading to increased blood pressure and heart rate in healthy individuals.
  • A study involving 40 healthy volunteers measured internal jugular vein (IJV) flow parameters before and after immersing their hands in cold water (1°C) for one minute.
  • Results showed significant increases in blood pressure, heart rate, and IJV volumetric flow, but a decrease in IJV diameter, indicating that CPT activates the sympathetic nervous system and affects venous flow in the IJV.

Background: Aortic valve stenosis (AS) is a common valvular heart disease, especially in the elderly, and is associated with a high prevalence of atrial fibrillation. Although the risk of atrial fibrillation is expected to decrease after the intervention, atrial fibrillation develops in many patients undergoing surgical or percutaneous transaortic valve implantation. We aimed to evaluate atrial refractoriness since it may play a key role in the occurrence of atrial fibrillation after transaortic valve implantation.

  • * Research shows a strong link between vitamin D levels and respiratory infections, notably increasing the severity and mortality rates associated with COVID-19, suggesting that deficiency might heighten risks.
  • * Vitamin D may aid in viral defense by enhancing immune responses and influencing the renin-angiotensin system, with ongoing studies exploring its potential role in preventing and managing viral infections like COVID-19.

Objective: Right ventricular (RV) overload findings affect the risk classification and treatment approach in acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Recently, it was reported that a new electrocardiography (ECG) parameter, terminal D1S + D3R (T-D1S + D3R) pattern, supported the diagnosis of APE. We aim to search the relationship between T-D1S + D3R pattern and right ventricular dilatation (RVD) in APE.
