Chromosome 15q26 deletion is a rare condition that causes short stature and is associated with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), failure to thrive, congenital heart disease and many congenital malformations. The insulin growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) on chromosome 15 has many important roles, especially in growth regulation. Our case is an 18-month-old small for gestational age girl who presented with severe short stature, microcephaly and minor dysmorphic features.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTree bark is an important natural polymer for sound absorption. The main components in the bark of different tree species are polymers with high molecular weight such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. The aim of this study is to determine the noise reduction coefficient (NRC), lignin, alcohol-benzene solubility (ABS), carbon (C), and nitrogen (N) contents in samples taken from the bark of different tree species-black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), narrow-leaved ash (Fraxinus angustifolia), stone pine (Pinus pinea), silver lime (Tilia tomentosa), sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa), sessile oak (Quercus petraea), and maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) and to investigate the relationship between these chemical properties and sound absorption measurements.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel probe NIR8 decorated with colorimetric, fluorometric, turn-on, and NIR properties was designed and synthesized using the chromenylium-cyanine platform for sensitive and selective quantification of Hg in real samples. The interaction between the probe and Hg resulted in the opening of the closed spirolactam ring of the chromenylium-cyanine platform, leading to a notable color shift from yellow to green. Concurrently, ratiometric spectral changes at 380 and 725 nm for UV-Vis and signal enhancement at 755 nm for fluorescence were observed.

Methods: Feldspathic ceramic (FC) and polymer infiltrated ceramic network (PICN) specimens were prepared (N = 126). Glazing, polishing, bleaching and immersion in beverages groups were formed.
Sinapic acid (SA) is a polyphenol compound derived from hydroxycinnamic acid found in various foods such as cereals and vegetables and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. However, its effects on glutamate-induced excitotoxicity, which is important in neurodegenerative diseases, have not been fully elucidated. This study aimed to investigate the effect of SA on glutamate excitotoxicity and the possible role of proinflammatory cytokines and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway.

Boron (B)-substituted wurtzite AlN (AlBN) is a recently discovered wurtzite ferroelectric material that offers several advantages over ferroelectric HfZrO and PbZrTiO. Such benefits include a relatively low growth temperature as well as a thermally stable, and thickness-stable ferroelectric polarization; these factors are promising for the development of ferroelectric nonvolatile random-access memory (FeRAM) that are CMOS-compatible, scalable, and reliable for storing data in harsh environments. However, wurtzite ferroelectric materials may undergo exacerbated self-heating upon polarization switching relative to other ferroelectric materials; the larger energy loss is anticipated due to the higher coercive field and remanent polarization.

However, achieving economic viability requires both optimized cell factories and innovative processes. Here, we address this challenge by developing a fermentation platform, which enables two concurrent fermentations in one bioreactor.

Protecting the material surfaces from deposits and insoluble sludge particles extends the engine life and reduces waste. Lubricant detergents in engine oils are essential additive technologies that prevent deposit formation in internal combustion engines. In this study, the effect of sulfonate detergent on deposit formation in a passenger car engine is investigated with experimental and multiscale molecular modeling methods to present a unified approach.

Methods: In total 210 specimens were prepared, consisting of CAD-CAM feldspathic (FC), zirconia-reinforced lithium disilicate ceramic (ZLS) and hybrid ceramic (HC). The ceramic specimens were divided according to the polishing methods of glazing (GLA) and mechanical polishing (POL).
Context: LiVMgO, LiNbMgO, and LiTaMgO double perovskite compounds were energetically the most stable in the FM phase. The lattice constants were 7.63 Å, 7.

Purpose: To assess the quality of YouTube videos for patient education on shoulder dislocation.
Methods: A standard YouTube search was performed in March 2023 using the terms "shoulder dislocation," "dislocated shoulder," and "glenohumeral joint dislocation" to identify eligible videos. Multiple scoring systems, including DISCERN (a validated tool for analyzing the quality of health information in consumer-targeted videos), Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Benchmark Criteria, and the Global Quality Score (GQS) were used to evaluate the videos.
Objective: Electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy (ECG LVH) holds significant clinical importance in cardiovascular disease. Pathological processes that lead to left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) also induce remodeling and impair left atrial (LA) function. Atrial function can be assessed using speckle-tracking echocardiography.

This study aims to determine that air pollution concentration values in İstanbul increased significantly and reached peak values due to atmospheric blocking between the 30th of December 2022 and the 5th of January 2023. In this study, hourly pollutant data was obtained from 16 air quality monitoring stations (AQMS), the exact reanalysis data was extracted from ERA5 database, and inversion levels and meteorological and synoptic analyses were used to determine the effects of atmospheric blocking on air pollution.

The extracellular environment is sensed by receptors in the plasma membrane. Some of these receptors initiate cytoplasmic signaling cascades involving phosphorylation: the addition of a phosphate group to a specific amino acid, such as tyrosine, in a protein. Receptor Tyrosine Kinases (RTKs) are one large class of membrane receptors that can directly initiate signaling cascades through their intracellular kinase domains, which both catalyze tyrosine phosphorylation and get phosphorylated.

Methods: Seven matched pairs (N = 7) of lower limb cadaveric specimens were utilized. TMT-1 joints from each donor were fixed with a medially placed nitinol staple or dorsally placed two 3.
The transmembrane helices of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) have been proposed to switch between two different dimeric conformations, one associated with the inactive RTK and the other with the active RTK. Furthermore, recent work has demonstrated that some full-length RTKs are associated into oligomers that are larger than dimers, raising questions about the roles of the TM helices in the assembly and function of these oligomers. Here we probe the roles of the TM helices in the assembly of EphA2 RTK oligomers in the plasma membrane.
