Background: Convalescent plasma (CP) therapy can be defined as a passive immunity transfer approach involving the administration of plasma for therapeutic purposes to inpatients hospitalized due to an active virus infection. Passive immunity antibodies can reduce target organ damage and directly neutralize the responsible pathogens. A limited number of studies on the use of CP have reported that critically ill patients can benefit from CP therapy.

The present study aimed to compare the effects of pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) with those of volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) on peripheral tissue oxygenation (PTO), respiratory function, hemodynamic status, and ventilation-related complications in patients undergoing laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
Methods: A total of 100 patients with obesity who underwent gastric plication or sleeve gastrectomy were recruited for the study, and 60 patients (n=32, in group PCV; n=28, in group VCV) were ultimately enrolled.
To determine the efficacy of Guy's stone score (GSS) for predicting stone-free and complication rates after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in children. A total of 197 renal units (RUs) in 173 children (≤17 years) who referred to our clinic were included in our study. RUs with stones were classified as four groups according to GSS.

For this purpose, first a sensitive LC-MS/MS analytical method was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantitative analysis of these two peptides. The methodology consisted of a simple protein precipitation step followed by UPLC separation and MRM quantitative analysis using a stable isotope labelled Methionine-Enkephalin as internal standard.

Methods: This cross-sectional controlled study was conducted at Batman Gynaecology and Paediatric Diseases Hospital, Batman, Turkey, between June 15 and July 23, 2015, and comprised cases of patients with peripartum hysterectomy and of those who had experienced surgical procedures other than hysterectomy (hypogastric artery ligation and/or B-Lynch suture). Both the groups were compared using Edinburgh Post-natal Depression Scale.
In this paper, we present the results of pharmacophore identification and bioactivity prediction for pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzodiazepine derivatives using the electron conformational-genetic algorithm (EC-GA) method as 4D-QSAR analysis. Using the data obtained from quantum chemical calculations at PM3/HF level, the electron conformational matrices of congruity (ECMC) were constructed by EMRE software. The ECMC of the lowest energy conformer of the compound with the highest activity was chosen as the template and compared with the ECMCs of the lowest energy conformer of the other compounds within given tolerances to reveal the electron conformational submatrix of activity (ECSA, i.

Mild hypothermia (MH) [body temperature (BT) kept at 32-35°C] has been shown to reduce both mortality and poor neurological outcome in patients after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This study investigated whether patients who were expected to benefit neurologically from therapeutic hypothermia (TH) also had improved cardiac function.

Etiologies of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) are not clear despite of the fact that many risk factors have been suggested. Especially in high stages RCC can affect the immune system in various ways. Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) may play a complementary role in the activation between the tumor and immunity.

A simple and rapid analytical method is described for the simultaneous quantitative analysis of three different N-acylethanolamides in human biological samples: anandamide (AEA), oleoylethanolamide (OEA), and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). The method is based on a new hybrid solid phase extraction-precipitation technology followed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS) analysis using d(4)-AEA as the internal standard. The method is linear up to 100ng/ml with a limit of quantitation of 50pg/ml for AEA and 100pg/ml for OEA and PEA.

Materials And Methods: In a randomized block design pre-operative serum samples obtained from 78 breast cancer patients and 29 controls were used to generate high-resolution MALDI-TOF protein profiles.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the continence status and patients' satisfaction after retropubic radical prostatectomy by a self-administered questionnaire composed of 12 questions.
Materials And Methods: In total, 143 patients who underwent RRP operation at our department from 1992 to 2000 with a minimum 6 months of follow-up were assessed. Seventy two patients participated in the study.
Serum protein profiling is a promising approach for classification of cancer versus non-cancer samples. The objective of our study was to assess the feasibility of mass spectrometry based protein profiling for the discrimination of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients from healthy individuals. In a randomized block design, pre-operative serum samples obtained from 66 colorectal cancer patients and 50 controls were used to generate MALDI-TOF protein profiles.

Here, we present a pipeline for preprocessing, statistical data analysis and presentation. Serum samples of 16 healthy individuals are used to generate protein profiles with high-resolution MALDI-TOF after isolation of peptides with C8 magnetic beads.
