Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) data in Türkiye, focusing on prognostic outcomes and influencing factors for patients aged 18 and older who were treated at 28 medical centers.
  • It found a survival rate upon hospital discharge of only 4.4%, with a significant majority of patients not receiving bystander CPR, which was only performed in 2.9% of cases.
  • Key predictors for better outcomes included male gender, initial shockable heart rhythms, shorter prehospital CPR duration, and no need for CPR in the emergency department, highlighting the importance of timely and effective CPR in emergencies.

Background: The effect of physiological circulatory changes during pregnancy on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) has been reported with limited data. This study aimed to provide information regarding outcomes of pregnant women with HCM and to identify predictors of major adverse cardiac event (MACE).

Methods: A total of 45 pregnancies with HCM were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: CoronaVac, an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, has been shown to be well tolerated with a good safety profile in individuals aged 18 years and older in phase 1/2 trials, and provided a good humoral response against SARS-CoV-2. We present the interim efficacy and safety results of a phase 3 clinical trial of CoronaVac in Turkey.

Methods: This was a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial.

Left atrial appendage (LAA) is a common site of thrombus formation especially in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Complete surgical LAA closure (cSLC) is the surgical aim, however incomplete surgical LAA closure (iSLC) is not rare. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the risk of thromboembolic complications (TEC) in AF patients with iSLC after mitral valve surgery.

Purpose: According to literature, virtual reality was found to reduce pain and kinesiophobia in patients with chronic pain. The purpose of the study was to investigate short-term effect of the virtual reality on pain, function, and kinesiophobia in patients with subacute and chronic non-specific low-back pain METHODS: This randomised controlled study in which 44 patients were randomly assigned to the traditional physiotherapy (control group, 22 subjects) or virtual walking integrated physiotherapy (experimental group, 22 subjects). Before and after treatment, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), TAMPA Kinesiophobia Scale (TKS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), Timed-up and go Test (TUG), 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT), and Single-Leg Balance Test were assessed.
