Background: Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterised by the formation of non-caseating granulomas in breast tissue, primarily affecting young women of childbearing age. The aetiology of IGM remains unclear, with potential factors including trauma, hormonal influences, and autoimmune responses. Recent studies suggest that immune dysregulation may play a critical role in IGM, highlighting the need for exploration of biomarkers involved in inflammation and immune modulation, particularly LL-37, galectin-3, IL-36, and TLR3.

The effect of obesity on the outcomes of laparoscopic adrenal surgery in patients with Cushing syndrome.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of obesity on the results of laparoscopic adrenal surgery in patients with Cushing syndrome.

Methods: This retrospective study was performed in Department of General Surgery at Erciyes University School of Medicine between January 2010 and January 2023. Our analysis included Cushing syndrome patients who underwent unilateral laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) with the transabdominal lateral approach.

An Evaluation of Difficulty in Emotion Regulation, Impulsivity, and Emotional Eating in Children and Adolescents Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate difficulties in emotion regulation, emotional eating, and impulsivity in children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).

Materials And Methods: The study included 53 children who were diagnosed with T1DM, and a control group of 50 subjects. The Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-age Children-Present and Lifetime Version, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale- Short Form (DERS-16), Emotional Eating Scale-Child and Adolescent Form (EES-C), and the Barratt Impulsivity Scale 11-Short Form (BIS-11) were administered to the participants.

Methods: Our study included 72 adolescents followed up with T1DM and 72 healthy adolescents and their mothers. Psychiatric evaluation of children was performed according to DSM-IV diagnostic criteria.

Background: The study of rearrangement in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) has gained importance as it enables personalized treatment of NSCLC with tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Therefore, it is important that the assessment tests become more standardized. In this study, we compared the two immunohistochemistry (IHC) antibodies (D4D6 and SP384 clones) and consistency with the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) results in NSCLC.

Laparoscopic transperitoneal adrenalectomy for adrenal tumours of 6 cm or greater: A single-centre experience.

Background: The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of transperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) for large adrenal tumours by comparing the outcomes of tumours larger than 6 cm with those smaller than 6 cm and also to identify the risk factors associated with prolonged operative time in transperitoneal LA.

Patients And Methods: One hundred and sixty-three patients underwent LA at our clinic from January 2014 to December 2020. Bilateral LA was performed in 20 of these 163 patients.

A clinical evaluation of gelastic and dacrystic seizures: a multicenter study.

Background: Gelastic seizures are extremely rare, short-lasting, unprovoked, and uncontrollable laughing attacks. We conducted this retrospective evaluation to determine whether these symptoms, manifesting in different forms, such as cheerful laughter, laughing, smiling, and sobbing had any value in terms of etiology or localization.

Methods: A total of 31 patients who exhibited bouts of laughing or crying and who were under follow-up between 2000 and 2019 at tertiary epilepsy centers were included in the study.

In our manuscript, we propose a common terminology in the Turkish language for the newly adopted WHO classification of the CNS tumors, also known as the WHO CNS 5th edition. We also comment on the applicability of this new scheme in low and middle income countries, and warn about further deepening disparities between the global north and the global south. This division, augmented by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, threatens our ability to coordinate efforts worldwide and may create significant disparities in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers between the "haves" and the "have nots".

Previously, we showed that CDYL1 is recruited to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) to promote homologous recombination (HR) repair and foster transcriptional silencing. However, how CDYL1 elicits DSB-induced silencing is not fully understood. Here, we identify a CDYL1-dependent local decrease in the transcriptionally active marks histone lysine crotonylation (Kcr) and crotonylated lysine 9 of H3 (H3K9cr) at AsiSI-induced DSBs, which correlates with transcriptional silencing.
