Introduction: The safety of hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBO) in patients with cardiovascular implanted electronic devices (CIED) remains unclear.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of seven CIED patients (median age 79 [73-83] years, five males [71.4%]), including five with pacemakers and two with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), who underwent HBO between June 2013 and April 2023.

We aimed to examine and compare surgical outcomes of anterior cervical discectomy with fusion (ACDF) and selective laminoplasty (S-LAMP) in CSM patients with 1- or 2-level disease.

We found that Phd2-null mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) produced more lactate than wild-type MEFs, as expected, whereas systemic inactivation of PHD2 in mice did not cause hyperlacticacidemia. This unexpected observation led us to hypothesize that the hypoxic response activated in the liver enhances the Cori cycle, a lactate-glucose carbon recycling system between muscle and liver, and thereby decreases circulating lactate.
